My job:
Pros:
1. I get to sit on the internet all day and get paid (allbeit not very well) for it.
2. I like some of the people, ie, about half of the non-teachers which equates to maybe 20 people out of a staff of over 100.
Cons:
1. Shit salary which is leaving me borderline-skint every single month.
2. 25m to work and 25m back, costing me about £40 a week in petrol.
3. Working around children.
4. It's the worst of the 3 high schools in Skem.
5. I'm nowhere near challenging myself in terms of my knowledge and skills. [this really is the second most important thing, after money]
6. They now make us work full hours during school holidays whereas before we could do 4-5 hours a day (ie, late start and early finish).
7. I only took this job in the first place because I was unemployed at the time, despite promising myself I would never work in schools again. Education sector, fine, but not in a school.
Pauk!

I took my last job as a 6 month stopgap after I graduated, and just couldn't get out of it. I got comfortable, for almost no money, and people kept saying, well, at least you're in a job. But that didn't help. If it wasn't for the fact that I needed the steady income, I would have quit hundreds of times over.
Applying for jobs sucks. I was lucky though that my boss in my last job was very supportive of me going to get a job that would keep my attention some. She let me go on job application and interview courses, and that were really helpful to me. I went out and got the second job I applied for after those courses.

Well, I really don't want to move outside of the IT technical support area because once you've been out of the habit for a few months, it's really hard to get back in - y'know? You get rusty, forget things you used to know because you're not doing it every day.
One problem... and at first I thought this was me being paranoid but now I'm convinced it's true... is the fact that I've worked in schools for 4 years. I swear, it's like a blot on my CV because I'm applying for jobs that I can do standing on my head and I'm not even getting called back for interviews. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm amazing but these are jobs I should at least be in contention for, there's always gonna be better candidates but at least give me a fucking chance!
Technical support, helpdesk, support analysys, etc... anything like that.
I get daily emails from job places like Monster, Totaljobs, ITVacancies, etc... I always check the local council sites, weekly/bi-weekly job searches on the net. It's just crazy how much time I spend looking for jobs and since I started this job (September 2006) do you know how many callbacks I had?
One.
And I was in fucking Spain at the time, I missed my interview appointment by one single day.
The phrase "gutted" didn't even cover that day.

See, when this happens, I'm always convinced that they've already got someone in-house in mind, and they purposefully find stupid reasons to not interview the really good candidates so that they don't out perform their preferred candidate at interview level. It's all just a big conspiracy.

Howdy folks. I really need a job. I've been unemployed since July, but i only started seriously looking for another job this month. I took a probably stupid decision to take 6 months out, sort out other things in my life, but that really didn't happen, and now i find myself really needing a job, but having 6months out doing nothing really isn't going to help me.
I look on JCP, Council etc websites daily and check the paper, but I don't know if i'm setting my standards too high or being too picky, but i just can't seem to find anything that tempts me. I really don't want to take another temp position and be in the same position 6/9months down the line, and i really don't want to do something silly like factory work or something, but finding that ideal permanant position doing something i want to do seems impossible.

I worked in the IT department at Walsall Council, there are tonns of Help desk, Technical Support, Software Development roles - we were one of the biggest departments in the building (taking up a third of the top floor). Seriously, check out the Council sites.
As for those online job things, I sent my CV off to loads of companies and heard faff all. I don;t think it's about you working in a school, more like those sites are shit.
That's the thing, I am forever getting emails about jobs in London - and we're talking good jobs. One of them was direct from a recruiter asking me if I was interested in a £35K job at a Solicitors firm, working as in-house IT support. I nearly crapped my pants until I realised it was in London. As much as I hate the place, I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I am gonna have to move there at some point and it depresses the fuck out of me.

Are you claiming job seekers allowance? You should be. I was skeptical at first, thinking it was like being on the dole but it's not - it's payback for all the money that YOU contribute when you are in employment, you're owed it.

I am now required to go downstairs, copy a file onto a pen drive and then paste it onto a laptop because one of the ASSISTANT HEADS OF THE SCHOOL is too fucking thick to do it for himself.
This is a man who, in the event of the Head becoming badly ill or requiring long term time off, would be responsible for the running of the school as part of a senior management team of about 6-7 people, all of whom are completely retarded.

The word Manager generally implies some kind of inability to do anything. As soon as people know you can do something good with a computer - ie. switch it on, then they ask you to do everything. Lazy bastards.

Well CB, for the second time in a few months, a fucking woman has left me to go back to her ex. What the flying fuck? I'm not that much of a cunt, and i really made a proper fucking effort to be civil and gentlemanly with this one. Really, im starting to think i should be re-become the totally fucking disrepectful wanker i was in my mid to late teens again, because being a fucking polite and courteous person clearly isn't working.
All i want right now is a fucking steady and slow relationship with someone who i can fucking care about and generally be a good boyfriend to, and when i fucking find a nice lady who seems to be into me as much as i am her, she fucks off back to her fucking ex AND LETS ME KNOW VIA A FUCKING TEXT. Fuck this shit. It's been a fucking great year for me so far until this.
EDIT - katiebear, im saying it in a kind of jest, it's a rap lyric i think. i'll have chilled out in a few minutes.

Well he started up again about a week ago, and then i was at this house party before we went into town and he'd been texting me the night before "Let me take you for a meal" blah de blah. And i was sitting there, and wouldnt you know it. He walks in, ive never met him before ever but ive seen pictures and i was mature about it and said "oh, hey!" and he completely fucking blanked me. A week later, he's now in a relationship with one of my best friends... What le fuck?! I mean i think the guys a weirdo and i'm in no way attracted to him. But how weird is that!?

Cunting blast fucking bollicks I officially hate my car. I was on the way to uni and it just lost all power I could barely get it to do 30. I managed to get it to a garage in St. Helen's where I have been sat for the last three hours only to be told that the egr valve and motor in said part have totally gone and I need a new one. Its going to cost me £387 fucking quid. Bless them though, they tried there best to bring it back to life but it was DOA. I've had to leave it with them and get a cab home. I don't know how the hell I'm going to get to uni in the morning.
Dan, some girls don't know a good thing if its steering them in there face. Anyway, do you really want to have anything to do with one that doesn't even have the balls or even just common courtesy to tell you this to your face. Better she show her true colours now rather than later.

FUCK GERMANS! Fuck them right up the arse.
I held them in the highest regard after my trip to Munich. But the 40 or so that were in my hotel tonight. FUCK YOU!!
When i attempt to speak German to help you better understand, DON'T LAUGH IN MY FACE. Your in England, when i go to any other country i always make sure that i try and speak their language even in the slightest cos i find it utterly rude not to try. You knew the bar was closed, don't try and play dumb and say you didn't. I told you and you said "ok, no drink" Don't try and put me in the shit just because you want another pint of "SHTELLA". Don't tip me 5p and wink at me. And also, just because your speaking in German doesn't mean i dont understand you are taking the PISS OUT OF ME!!!!
URGH IM SO MAD!!
Way to use one person to judge a whole country. Stop moaning and grow up.

Couldn't agree more mate, I made a massive effort when I was in Spain and you can tell that they appreciate it. Even little things like when you're asking for an ice cream or the bill in a restaurant. I cannot stand people who use their native language as if it's THE chosen language when they go abroad. So fucking rude.
That reminds me, I should pick up some Swedish phrases. :D

You're not wrong amigo, it's my own fault really - I foolishly came in to a dodgy, volatile, unstable network and spent the first 6 months tightening everything up, sorting the security, dropped £6K on a new server to balance the load and now the network runs fucking fabulous. The flipside of that coin is that it works so well that shit hardly ever breaks.
I think I'm gonna spend this afternoon doing an overly poncy PC replacement strategy and be totally gay and make a nice colourful diagram.

Then he went "don't open em, i'll do it myself, i can twist them cant i?" and i said "err, well you can try but it might be quite difficult" and he said "i'll be fine!" then he came back a bit later on, his hands were bright red and he sheepishly said "can you open these please?"

I feel a bit stitched up actually.
I asked if I could book the afternoon off on 11/1 to go to the Doctors (my appointment was at 4.30 - but I'd have to leave at at least 3.30 cos of how far away it is) and I told my boss that I knew I would never make up 2 hours. She told me to just go at 3.30 and it'd be fine to make my hours up over the next couple of weeks. I told her I'd struggle to do that, but if she was sure...
So I was late 4 days out of 5 last week, which I admit sounds really bad, but there was an accident every morning on the M6 - so it was totally beyond my control. And i made my time up at the end of the day. BUT that meant that I made no time up from going to the Doctors.
Well, I'm going home and cutting out all the accidents from the M6 that were in the local papers.
Good on you, make a log of this shit. Like i said, bunch of fetid vaginal openings.
I reallllllly need to start paying attention!
