Uh oh spaghetti-o's!! I'm usually very safe when I'm drunk texting... nothing ever embarrassing but I did forget once when I texted Mimi at about 3-4 in the morning to tell her that I just pee'd on a rat next to a dumpster behind what used to be the pizza company on Hardman Street. :)
I remember that.
Classy.

I have just spent an hour on the phone to Orange.
My phone is broken.
They're sending me a new one for free. Hoorah!
I also need a new phone battery...which is apparently not included...
However, my scouse charm sorted me out and I'm now getting a new battery free too.
Thankkkkk God.
I despise being phone-less.

They weren't going to give you a battery with the phone? Tight-arses!
I have a female friend who also can't bear to be phoneless. It has to be by her side all day every day, and she makes sure it's only on charge when she can be near it. Crazy women! :p

No it wasn't that...but apparently there is a fault with my phone in general.
So he told me to keep my battery sim and memory card.
Then I explained that my battery only lasted a day and a half and considering I'd only had it for about 3 months, that it was unacceptable.
So then he said it was the faulty phone draining my battery. I told him it clearly wasn't and eventually they agreed to send me a battery too.
The man on the other end of the phone was actually really helpful...
And a geordie.

Or soemthing. :)

Nah, he'll know I'm lying.
I'd rather just not text him at all and just sink into a black hole.
however, I don't want him to think I'm a drunk psycho and then tell everyone when we go back to uni :(

Yeah. but I just don't want to look clingy or desperate. and I have a disgusting feeling that that's how I am when I'm drunk... even though I've no proof.

Are you friends with any of his friends that you could ask or something?. Or you could just text him normally, ask how he is and stuff, like you never made the text. Like i say unless hes a complete arse, if you don't bring the text up, he won't.
Just remember, things are never as bad as you think they're going to be. :)

I once got drunk in my students union and was sick everywhere. and then spoke to him for like an hour... I'm going to assume it wasn;t as bad as that. but it just doesn't make me feel any better.
If he just text me saying "hi hows it goin...sorry i've not been in touch, been dead busy" I'd be like "pheewwwwww"

unfortunately, i then decided it was be sensible to tell my girlfriend (who was at home from uni) what i'd done. not one of my greatest thoughts

I started a new job exactly a year ago today that was a seven month contract. I had a good wage but i knew i needed to look for another job as it was likely the project i was working for would not continue and i would be out of a job.
However i thought hey i've got enough money, no need yet. Then July came, i was out of a job, but i still had a bit of money (about £1200). However now it is virtually all gone and i'm skint and need a job badly. :(

Morning Leanne. :) I saw Red Dwarf t'other day (Me Squared) and, natch, it reminded me of you. :D
Kat's got a rat (or rats) at her place, we've suspected since the weekend when we found a phone line chewed through but she heard it squeaking in the bathroom last night so me and my mate John bravely went round to trap it but no sign of it, looks like it's found a way in and out through the bathroom so we set up an ingenius trap of mine...
(a small angled piece of cardboard over the hole, if it comes in again before friday (when we go back to check), it'll move the cardboard and we'll know it's been back)
... and then shut the door and left it and she's staying at mine for a few days now, fucking horrid. Worst thing is that her landlord is a total crook, old Georgian house in the middle of Liverpool, split into five flats, he could be making something like £40,000-50,000 a year off all the combined people in their and he does fuck all. They got a (kinda crappy) new cooker because the existing one was dangerously shit and a (supposedly new but I suspect second hand) shower because their other one was dangerous but the house is a tip, he spends little to no money on maintenance and his reply when Kat rang him to report the chewed phoneline:
"Ring BT."
Yes, because he actually believed that BT had entered the property without permission or anyone knowing (so we're talking breaking and entering here) and didn't cut... but CHEWED through the phoneline (three fucking times) for no apparent reason.
It also explains why an item of post had been moved from the floor (outside the bedroom next to the bathroom) into the bathroom itself when I went for a burst the other day.
Urgh, rats.

Our Dean lives about five minutes away from Kat and he has a rat hole in his back garden. They have had the council out and they have put rat bait down but to no avail as yet. I think that town has a bad rat problem as I have seen quite a few of them lately when I have been out and about.
Kat's landlord has an obligation to get this fixed as its a health and safety issue. Tell her to call citizens advice and they will be able to tell her the best way to get the lazy son of a bitch to do exactly what he has to.

Yeah, Kat said the squeaking was really loud so me and John reckon it's a big inner-city rat that's come inside to get away from the cold. We also think that the house being empty for a week over christmas hasn't done any favours, usually there's always someone home (usually the five of them) so maybe the cold teamed with a prolonged quiet period has attracted it inside? That's what we reckon anyway.

Gross. We had a similar problem when I was a student. Phantom rats. You know they're there, but they're stealthy little fuckers. Our landlord didn't give a shit about what problems we had with the house, he actually changed his phone number during our tenancy and didn't tell us and so we had no way of contacting him. I cancelled my last 2 months' rent cheques and carried on living there anyway. I don't think he even noticed.

I know what you mean about the assumption thing, I was the same, I was such a girly swot at high school that it was always a given that I'd go to uni and be awesome at it etc etc; turns out the opposite was true. I'm a much better learner on my own terms than on someone else's. Still, I wish I'd initially picked a course I'd actually have been good at, rather than what I assumed I was meant to do (did biology, when I should've done something like psychology or arts/lit.)
Anyway. It's fucking tough. I sympathise.:(

The only good thing about coming from a family of underachievers who actively promote apathy and scorn ambition is that I have never once in my life felt pressure to do anything.
Uni is not for everyone thats for sure and there is no way that I could have done it when I was 20 ( far to in to my partying) but my thoughts are, your half way through your course, it would be such a shame for you to come this far and not finish it. Its only another year and bit till you finish and thats not very long in the greater scheme of things.

Well ive changed courses already, and i thought that it solved it but it didn't. I just feel even shitter now that when i finally built up the courage to do something about hating it, i'm back to square one.
It's not cos of where i am, or the uni i'm at, i'm just not a good "learner". I should of realised this as the end of sixth form, but when you've grown up your whole life with everyone assuming your going to uni you just assume that you almost have to. I don't wanna even discuss it with my mum though, it'll break her heart. Fuck.
Ok, here's my advice if you want it...
I fucking hated uni, every single day of it for four smegging years but was it worth it? Oh yes, because I have a degree which will help in my chosen career. Not because of all this "uni experience" bullshit, that drives me up the fucking wall - living away from home, fair enough that's good experience, but just getting pissed all the time at the cost of your overly-expensive learning? That's not experience, just wait a few years and "live" when you have your studies out of the way.
(And that's not a dig at you, Katie, that's my personal opinion in general)
Right, anyway... I just sucked it up, put up with all the stress and ballache and did the work and just solely focussed on the light at the end of the tunnel. I KNOW you can do the same, you just have to want it. If you don't want it, then sure - get out before you cost yourself more money and misery but just be aware that in many industries, not having a degree can be a major hinderance.
I wouldn't class myself as a "good learner" either - I loathe the pressure of exams and the workload of multiple courseworks gets me so down in the dumps I can barely explain it.
As much as it might upset your Mum (that's understandable) I'm sure she'd rather see you happy than miserable and utterly in debt.
They are doing the tribute song thing!
Tribute song thing? He pointed at me and I was being gangster, FOR FUCKS SAKE!!

I'm beyond fed up. I have no enthusiasism in the slightest. I barely make it in for lectures, and i know alot of people would and do say "just get off your arse and do it", but i think, i'm paying for something i hate doing. Where's the logic in that? Sure at the end of it you get a qualification, but the way my work is going i'm just gonna straight out fail.
Aw Katie I really hope you work out what you want to do about uni. I remember absolutely hating my 2nd year and managed to wangle missing half of the last term in order to do work experience (within the design industry so it was course related). Do they do anything like that on your course? Might buy you some time and get you away from it for awhile. Being a student is usually a great way of getting your foot in the door at a lot of companies seeing as you're basically free labour. It's also a great way to make contacts of course and might even lead to a job.
Can you talk to your lecturers about how you feel about it all? Would they even let you take a year off perhaps? Might give you more of a chance to get a regular job etc for awhile and see if you want to go back.

Thing is Stu, you had light at the end of the tunnel because you knew what you wanted a the end of it. I thought i did, but i really fucking don't. I have no idea what i'd do with the degree, if i even manage to pass it. Media and Scriptwriting.
Firstly, i don't know why i took the scriptwriting part, i'm not bad at it, i just dont enjoy it. An the media part is very different to what i imagined. I've already changed over from English Lit and Creative Writing to this, so it looks like im just trying to find something easy. But i'm not, i'm just trying to find something that i want to actually do, and it might help if i enjoy it at the same time.

Do you have any ideas whatsoever what you want to do for the rest of your life? Can you see yourself doing a certain something in your 30's?
What about drop out, take some time to work and then look at re-enrolling next year or something?
I know it's tough, uni's not for everyone - maybe you ARE right for uni but you still haven't found the right course. I bet half the people on here who've been to uni thought at some point or another about changing. I nearly dropped out to do psychology in first year and then something music related in second year but y'know.

After sitting on the sofa all day doing nothing but feeling sorry for myself, stuffing my mush with all the left over cake and biscuits I felt a bit guilty so I went and joined the gym.
£24 for student any time membership with all classes included, bargain. Got a goody bag free too.:) I'm paying for it with the money that I'm saving by not smoking so its also an encouragement thing (this month has paid for itself already).
Tis a pity that I'm to ill to actually go for my health check / induction straight away.

Katie I think I've told you before, but my brother's girlfriend works at the BBC in the scripts department. I can ask her what their work experience policy is or if you can talk to her about what she does and stuff if you want? Not sure if that helps at all, just let me know if it does. You'll get there in the end x

If it helps Katie I didn't find the job I really knew I wanted to do until I was in my late 20's.I really disliked most nursing jobs I did.I've only ever really been happy or felt at all settled in this job (even though I moan like buggery about it half the time  ) I think you'll find something that you like but that there's no emergency to do so.Just do what you have to until you find what it is that's really 'you'.

Evening all.
Katie - maybe you're on the wrong path altogether?
When i was 16 i took 3 A-Levels - Business, Economics and ICT. 2 months before the final A2 exams, i decided i had no interest in a career in any of those pursuits and dropped out on the spot, throwing 2 years of learning away and after a 6 month spell of unemployment, i ended up getting a job in a pub. I worked for this pub company until mid-2005, and had worked my way up to the brinks of management. After losing my job there, i milled about a bit, mainly extending my hobbies and such, and getting involved in my childhood fascination - science.
After looking about for a few months for something suitable to study at the right level and pace, im now training to be a Forensic Scientist, and have the option to switch to Medical Science next year if i want to, and i've never been more sure of anything i've started in my life.
Pardon the ramble, but it's the most relevant story i could think of to demonstrate the point that it can take time to realise what you want to do, and that dropping out of something you don't want to do isn't the end of the world. If it comes to it, move back home and get a job for a year or two so you can get your head in check, save a bit of money, and reassess what you want out of a career.

Yes you'll have the dormant virus but contact with his chicken pox won't rectivate yours. You are more likely to get shingles when your immune system is low.
