Fair enough, I just remember he finished on MOTD and then landed an FA Job.

He's been there years and years. Both in official and unofficial roles. I'd ask him, but unfortunately I don't have access to him anymore!

Paris St Germain look destined for relegation from Ligue 1.

Most Rangers fans are not shocked by this news. :D

PAUL LE GUEN'S season from hell continued yesterday. (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/tm_method=full%26objectid=18796282%26siteid=66633-name_page.html)

An angry mob of Paris St Germain fans gatecrashed a kids' training day to quiz him over their relegation worries.

Le Guen, who quit Rangers in January after a disastrous seven months as manager, blanked the supporters as they approached him at the end of a soccer skills camp for 300 Parisien schoolkids.

PSG fans fear their club could drop out of the top flight in France for the first time in their 37-year history.

The team are second bottom of the league, two places worse off than when Le Guen took over from sacked Guy Lacombe in January, with nine games. But the manager still has the backing of the PSG board, at least in the short term.

President Alain Cayzac said: "I'm relaxed and positive about the future. We need to protect the players and the club and will do that as best we can.

"I'm fully concentrated on our job of survival and I will do everything I can along with Paul to achieve that."

Le Guen arrived at Rangers in the summer in a blaze of publicity after successfully masterminding three title campaigns at Lyon.

He left Scotland after a run of seven defeats and eight draws in his 33-game reign, including a CIS Cup exit to First Division St Johnstone.

But in France his stock remained high. And less than a fortnight after leaving Gers he was made boss at the club where he lifted the European Cup-Winners' Cup as a player.

Seriously fellas (and the 2/3 ladies that visit here), i'm rooting for England to fail to qualify for Euro 2008 so this penarse in charge gets the boot and someone remotely competent gets a shout. It's for the good of the future of English Football.

It still sickens me how Sven and Steve have/are wasted/wasting the most talented generation of players we have had since 1974.

I totally agree, I aint watched an england match since the world cup and wont until quiffster is no longer manager, hated him at United and Boro. We could all do a better job!

As much as I still (sadly) love England, I think it'll take something like this happening to force McQuiffy out of the job and maybe, finally, prove that we need to take a gamble on a big name manager who's a little unconventional to get the best out of a damn good squad.

There's a dead good photo doing the rounds that's taking the piss out of David Nugent! :D He's said "I've always been an Everton fan and hopefully within the next five years I'll be playing for them"... so, care to explain the photo of him as a kid decked in a Liverpool kit and proudly waving a Liverpool scarf? :D

*

Also, my Dad Sky Plus'd the match for me and I just had a flick through the highlights.

What a bunch of cock.

I think, honestly, Gerrard was just about our best player, at least you could see he was always trying to inspire something because he had the security of Hargreaves sitting behind.

Lampard couldn't inspire himself to fucking fart, the useless fat cunt.

As for Rooney, fuck off you jug eared bender. One of the best players in the world? My crusty black arse! He hasn't scored a European goal since his debut for United and he hasn't scored a competitive England goal for three years now yet he is STILL the first name on the teamsheet. How's about we try a different combination?

Hargreaves had an alright game again too... and Lennon, why even be on the pitch? Seriously, how uninterested can one person look?

We are missing Joe Cole so much that it's not even funny anymore and, dare I say it, Michael Owen. :(

There was a great story a few weeks back.

When Gattuso joined Rangers, he didn't have any money or decent clothes - I think he was only 18 - so Gazza took him to the Italian centre (Versace shops etc) in Glasgow and told Gattuso he had agreed with Walter Smith to take it out of his pay.

When Gattuso's next pay packet arrived, there was no deductions - so he went to Walter Smith, who knew absolutley nothing about it.

He spoke to Gazza who just said "Don't worry about it"

When Newcastle signed a Brazillian player, Gazza decided to teach him English.

After a week, the Brazillian stood up in the dressing room and recited the days of the week

"Monday, Tuesday, Wankingday..."

He also hid a fish in Gordon Durie's car underneath the spare tyre.

2 weeks later, Durie had to take his car into get valeted, they pulled the fish out. The smell still didn't go away. Again, the car went into be valted nothing was found, yet it was absolutley stinking.

Durie took the car back to to dealership where he got it and complained. They found a rotting fish corpse in the door panel.

True to the max.

Shame really, he genuinely seems to have a love for Scawtland but I doubt he'd have stayed had he stayed and gotten as good as he is now. I think he'll return there when he's 32-33 or something and play his final couple of seasons for Rangers, I think he's always said that's what he plans on doing... same as how Keane said he always wanted to play for Celtic in his final season.

Gattuso was always played at right back when he was at Rangers and it was made even worse by Dick Advocaat (shit, was it Advocaat or Smith?) insisting that he didn't get too far forward (whereas Arthur Numan on the left was free to roam and was very very good at it)

I can understand that - Gattuso arrived the season before Advocaat took over and in the final season of players like Gazza, Laudrup, McCoist and Goram. It was the end of one team and the start of a new team coming in.

I remember Smith signed a few Italians at that time Amoruso, Porrini and Marco "The Mood" Negri as well as Gattuso.

FA Cup final will be at Wembley

Wembley has finally got the go-ahead for the FA Cup final
The Football Association has confirmed the new £800m Wembley Stadium will host this year's FA Cup final on 19 May.
Brent Council has given the stadium a general safety certificate after two successful "ramp up" events.

A community day was staged for 34,000 people and England under-21s faced Italy in front of nearly 56,000 fans.

The FA's chief executive Brian Barwick said: "I'm happy to confirm that the 2007 FA Cup final will be played at Wembley Stadium."

Barwick added: "It's the announcement that a lot of people have been waiting for and is great news for football fans in this country and indeed the world over.

"The Cup final and Wembley Stadium go hand in hand and everybody at the FA is looking forward to a great day."

Wembley Stadium managing director Alex Horne said: "We're delighted with the news and I would like to thank Brent Council for their help during this process.

"We received the keys to the stadium just over a fortnight ago, since then Wembley and the FA's staff have worked incredibly hard to put on two great test events in a very short period of time.

"We realise that there is still some way to go yet and are digesting the feedback we have received in order to ensure that coming to Wembley Stadium is a fantastic experience for fans."

Brent Council chief executive Gareth Daniel said: "We are delighted to be able to hand over this safety certificate, which will allow this 90,000-seat stadium to open, bringing back world-class music and sporting events to Wembley."

The FA also announced that finals of the FA Trophy and the FA Vase will be held at Wembley on 12 and 13 May respectively, at a capped capacity - as part of the build up to the official opening on 19 May.

So, there's talk of Rooney and Hargreaves being dropped tonight.

Right, I can half-see the logic in dropping Hargreaves because it's highly unlikely that we're going to need a holding midfielder against such a weak side... but, that said... FUCKING START HARGREAVES AND GERRARD!! Let them show what they can do and hell, it could give Hargreaves an opportunity to venture forward now and then too.

As for Rooney, he's not done it for England for so long - same as Fatty - so not starting him could well be a good thing but I reckon he will start. As we all know, McLaren doesn't have the balls.

Apparently, if (when) we don't win tonight - he's gone... with a lot of talk about Allardyce.

March 28th 2007, 06:07 AM
Rooney being dropped is very understandable (who would we play though who's any good) But HARGREAVES!!! No way, get fatty out of there :(

Captain Stu
March 28th 2007, 06:16 AM
Normally I'd suggest dropping Rooney and starting Crouch up with either Johnson or Defoe but of course we don't have Crouch at the moment so it'd just be Johnson AND Defoe running around, chasing the same balls as we've seen before with various combinations.

We don't have enough different strikers. We have Crouch as a target man and Rooney to drop off and play deeper... that's it. Everyone else - Defoe, Owen, Johnson, Bent - are all runners.

timesfooall
March 28th 2007, 06:26 AM
I'd be tempted to play Gerrard off the front, Lennon on the right and Barry on the left. That means fatpard would play and Gerrard out of position again but Gerrards better there than on the wing.

Captain Stu
March 28th 2007, 06:34 AM
Yeah, that might work against a lesser team like Andorra, give Gerrard more time and space to run forward.

Two-Bob Peeters
March 28th 2007, 07:25 AM
unfortunately, (moreso for england than for liverpool, i think) Crouch tends to drop back deep as well. Terry Butcher was saying yesterday, theat he rekons it's due to the lack of service from Midfield. which i guess is kinda true. But Rooney drops deep for United as well, but it works better because as soon as he does there are players there to help him straight away. Whereas for England i notice Gerrard and Lampard like to drop deep to pick up the ball from the defenders, i think perhaps they're a bit worried of getting in each others way... and therefore they do, catch 22.

Dunno about Gerrard helping the striker, it effectively makes it a 4-5-1 (4-4-1-1, whatever) i'm sure he can do it. but surely now we've got to realise shifting players about to accomodate others really isn't the way forward. just because we have a number of good players fighting for a certain position doesn't mean we have to use them all. Hear this Macca PLAY PLAYERS WHO ARE BEST SUITED TO THE POSITION YOU WANT THEM TO PLAY!

i can't bare to think what would happen if Totti, Villa and Henry were english! he'd be playing them in Midfield just to fit them in because they're 'world class'!

Captain Stu
March 28th 2007, 07:49 AM
Totti would be playing on the wing and Villa would be playing as a lone striker.

Yeah, Crouch does tend to drop deep for England for that exact reason, well spotted and it's a proper vicious circle... Gerrard and Lampard drop deep to get the ball leaving a massive gap in the middle of the park so Crouch has to come back to fetch the ball but then doesn't have the pace to get back where he should be.

Even Crouch and Rooney is no good, Crouch needs people to run PAST him not people to run in front of him, his best game is spent with his back to goal I reckon.

And yeah, take Rooney out for a bit. He hasn't done a squirt for England for years so why play him game-in, game-out? He doesn't seem to be enjoying his football at the moment so give him some time off, maybe then he'll learn to develop his game more and become more useful. Stick him with pretty much anyone apart from Saha and he looks a bit poo to me. He did alright with Larsson but that'd never work long-term unless Rooney planned to become a pacy forward to run past a target man.

Christ, even give Nugent a start tonight maybe, we need to fucking do something. Anything less than an absolute trouncing of Andorra tonight should cost Quiffo his job.

Natural solution, as we ALL know, is to play a holding man to come back to midfield which will naturally free the attacking GERRARD midfielder GERRARD up so he can push forward and not cause the forwards to play so damn deep. One simple personnel change could alter our entire style of play for the best. It's a simple formula that works, it just works.

Once more, the Chelsea 4-3-3 drifting into 4-5-1 formation is the only way Gerrard and Fatty can play together:

Crouch
Gerrard.............Lampard
Cole (when fit)............................Lennon/SWP
Hargreaves

Crouch plays the Drogba target man role, Gerrard and Lampard have a degree of freedom to support whenever possible in a more attacking midfielder role rather than second strikers. Cole and Lennon (enh) provide natural width and get CROSSES in for the target man and Hargreaves just sits back, where's the Makalele hat and keeps everything in check.

If we're really underfire, Lampard can drop in between the wingers and Gerrard can even drop back with Hargreaves as many people forget he actually started out as a defensive midfielder.

*

My god, I couldn't love Oliver Holt (from The Mirror) any harder if I tried. Yet AGAIN he makes a fabulous point about the appalling way Carragher is never given a fair crack for England... he has a solid game the other day, ok he's a bit poo at going forward, but he's a hard-working, dedicated PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER who does his talking on the pitch but the second that money-hungry, poncey, showbiz grubbing cunt Ashley Cole comes back, he's back in the side despite his pathetic form this season.

Quote: What sort of a message does that send out? The wrong one.

Liverpool get groundshare request

Liverpool's new owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette have been asked by city council leaders to look again at sharing their new stadium with Everton.

The American tycoons want to make Liverpool's proposed new stadium bigger than the planned 60,000-capacity.

Liverpool have always ruled out sharing with Everton but council leader Warren Bradley wants them to reconsider.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "If they can consider an increase in size, why can't they consider a shared stadium?"

Liverpool have yet to confirm the decision to suspend preparatory work on the £215m project in Stanley Park, but have revealed a review will be undertaken.

And Bradley, a Blues season-ticket holder, feels Hicks and Gillette could be persuaded to allow Everton to share the new ground.

He added: "They have got their guys (Dallas firm HKS) looking at designs, infrastructure and everything.

"Are you telling me a commercial business in America doesn't sweat the asset? They sweat that asset until they can't get any more out of it.

Everton are considering moving to a new site outside Liverpool in Kirkby but Bradley also thinks redeveloping their current home Goodison Park should not be ruled out.

"I think in a few years' time they'll be playing in a new stadium and I think it will be in Liverpool," Bradley explained.

"I would be happy with a joint stadium, I've got to be honest, but my gut feeling is probably not.

"I don't see any reason why Goodison Park can't be redeveloped. You could quite easily fit an additional footprint and some commercial activity - a hotel, for example - into a new development."

rob3000
March 28th 2007, 05:53 PM
It won't happen. Of course the council want them to do it, but it's too controversial for it to actually happen.

It's got to be just Liverpool's ground, it has to be!

Captain Stu
March 28th 2007, 05:54 PM
Fuck off.

If they even consider it, they'll be lynched. Fucking stupid poncey council, just shows what these wanker fucks know about football.

If it's a choice between 60,000 capacity and, say, 76,000 and a groundshare with Everton, there isn't a single true Liverpool fan alive that would opt for a groundshare.
