hahaha, no money Parlour.
He's one of those players that annoys me for no reason.
I was pissing myself when his wife took him to the cleaners when they were divorced.
She was naive as hell though - A professional footballer could only take his family on holiday if they flew with Easyjet...

I was quite gutted about that when I read it this morning. He's been the best Under 21's manager we've ever had, and to lose him again is really disappointing.
Where'd you hear about Arse and Bale? I wasn't all that fussed to be honest whether we went for him or not, but if we didn't go in now, there won't be another chance.

Got asked this on another froum I am on: Anyone help?
What enters the field of play in a football match at half-time, but doesn't leave until the match is over? If it's a Saturday match it leaves after the game, but if it's a mid-week game it remains until the next day... and it only happens in the English Premiership, not in Scotland or the lower divisions...
This may help:

Well yeah, as usual - Keane comes on and, as good as he is, the team loses all shape and there's no target man for Defoe to play off so he becomes pretty redundant.
Even if Mido was unfit - which is what Jol claimed - he could've been useful for at least 45 minutes or so and then bring Keane on near the end to keep the ball.

Keane came on and did nothing yesterday, can't remember him doing anything worthy of note. So frustrating to watch your team squander a lead like that, even if I did see it coming. Fuck knows what Robbo was doing for their 2nd goal, the guy is increasingly becoming a big-time liability.

Yeah, part of it is that I don't like the man, but his return for Chelsky isn't what they paid out the money for. They wanted total dominance. They wanted a tem that played better, and won everything. This year, they have a team that are lucky more than anything and generally less than convincing when you watch them play, and while they'll probably win the League Cup, whoever they play, I don't think they've got enough in them to overhaul United (who are playing well) and win the league.

It is achievable... but what I'm saying is that there's no chance in hell that he's saying it for ANY other reason other than because he's a prick and oh, look at that, the two teams play each other in just over 5 weeks. Coincidence? No chance in hell, he's stoking it up like he does before every single game.
If he was saying "we want to beat this record because we want to be the club with the most league wins ever" then it'd be different but it's not, it's "we want to beat this record because it's Liverpool's record."
And Neville, 31, warned: "I always thought it would be a dream to leave this club having won more titles than Liverpool (http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/page.cfm?displayAll=true&sitesearch=true&parentid=11116131&internalonly=1&query=liverpool)."

Well, I think you're talking shit then.
It takes time to put a team of players together and make them play as a force, no matter how good the players are...they're human afterall...and Jose did it in his first season and a foreign league which he had no experience with...not only that, he did it twice.
Look at it this way, they've spent a lot of money...and I'm not defending them on that as they've done it badly...but so have other teams in the top flight, there's about 5 or 6 teams who should be doing a hell of a lot better and maybe have a league behind them for what they've spent on players...Liverpool included, their return hasn't been too amazing over the last few years either.

Big deal, I think you're talking shite also. :)
We have completely differing opinions then - you mention "putting a team together"... it's a damn site easier to do that when you have an unlimited budget, no player is out of reach, no wage demand is too high. You simply cannot say that they've "put a team together" - a real team is assembled carefully over a number of years (ie, more than two) and generally doesn't fall apart at the seams after two seasons like Chelsea have.
Their team has been playing off individual brilliance in key areas and a lot of luck - now that's run out and they're scuppered with seemingly nothing in reserve. United, with their same mentality of plugging away with the same solid team have taken their time and now have the upper hand and the title's in the bag for them.
Champions League... we won it, he wants it and we spent a fraction of what they did. No matter what he says and does, that kills him inside and I absolutely LOVE it.
And why mention Liverpool? Houllier and Benitez have played it the right way - they've INVESTED in the team rather than just blind buying. One could level exactly the same criticism at Newcastle with their spending and underachieving also - but we've got a number of trophies to show for our investment.
Plus Mourinho will never have something that real top managers have - respect.
But it's Liverpool who have the record, so what's the difference?
The difference is that he doesn't want to set a record to be remembered, he wants to set a record because it pisses him off that the record is currently held by a club he hates.

well i just think it's ambition he's showing, i'm sure the fact he isn't too friendly with Liverpool helps him want to achieve that goal, but i don't think the reason he wants to achieve it is directly because of that fact. it's just an added bonus. It might possibily give him some added desire, but i think if he went on to break the record he wouldn't be "YES!! WE BEAT LIVERPOOL!" it'd be more "YES, WE HAVE THE RECORD"

It's all about how it's been said - it could've been worded in a professional manner to show ambition, instead it was said in a very personal, vitriolic way.
I don't think I can explain it any more clearly.
Ah but I talk shite on a regular basis! I apologise for saying you were, hearing so much hatred towards the guy was starting to bug me...I'm not trying to defend Chelsea here by the way...I also hate them.
I can see what you mean there, yeah their spending was/is ridiculous and it's starting to kick Chelsea in the arse now...however I don't think they're falling apart, yes they don't have the depth and aren't getting the results as they were but they're not falling apart, it's the players who should be blamed, although they could gel and hit the ground running at any time now.
Man United have been playing better than they have over the last few seasons and that has hindered Chelsea more than the team playing badly, everyone around them is starting to figure them out...but I think Jose is a good enough coach and if he stays at Chelsea then I think we'll see them get back on their feet next season because he's a good manager.
As for assembling a team...yeah, I agree with you...they've done it the easy way but they've still done it, the future is when it will hurt them most. Jose was given the money and he used it, most people would do the same...he gave himself a difficult task of gelling a load of new players together (no matter how good they are/were) straight away and he did it, I don't think many people could do that. It overshadows his tactics etc, I think that is why Jose should get more respect. I don't think anyone else could have won back to back leagues like he has.
I mentioned Liverpool as it's obvious that most of your hatred for Chelsea and the guy is from the fact that you're a Liverpool fan and they are huge rivals of you, it's easy to be blinded by a pure hate. Believe me I know Newcastle can be called for those reasons, in fact I reckon we are second worst to Chelsea, it's embarassing how much we've spent on shit expecting things to happen overnight...Souness couldn't do what Jose has done though.
Jose just knows how to wind people up, Ferguson was the master back in the day and people hated him...it's going to keep happening.

I don't understand why you don't get this - it's about HOW IT'S SAID. 99% of professional footballers would say they want to break a record so that they could be record holders. Gary Neville clearly stated he wants to do it to usurp Liverpool because he hates the club, hates the people and hates the fact that, when he was growing up, it was the golden age where Liverpool dominated English football for 20 years.

Right, i'm going to leave it at that, i can't find a decent article to try and debate this further. I apologise that it escalated into the same old crap i wasn't planning on that, my main point was just trying to respond to when Stu said that he only said it to annoy Liverpool. Which i disagreed with because in my opinion anyone with a Tad of ambition would want the same thing. I honestly don't think he said it in a way to say "YEAH I WAN'T TO BEAT LIVERPOOLS RECORD SCOUSE CUNTS etc." even by mentioning Liverpool. I think he would have mentioned the club involved even if it was Basingstoke Town. Although at the same time, i concede that perhaps it could be seen as some kind of bait for a reaction, even though i don't think it was intentionally put like that. I just think you lot as a whole are just very easily irked up about stuff which generally to most people is water off a ducks back. Anyhoo, the Arsenal kiddies could definitely dominate a few cup competitions over the coming few seasons but the bottom line is they'll get nowhere near the Premiership title without proper experience. As much as Man U won the Premiership with a bunch of youngsters there was always a solid core of experienced players to keep them grounded and keep them battling during hard-fought victories, especially away from home.

Hearts Transfer Talk (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/heart_of_midlothian/6305707.stm)
Hearts head coach Valdas Ivanauskas hopes to sell Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon before the closure of the transfer window on Wednesday.
Ivanauskas was speaking after Gordon and midfielder Paul Hartley were left out of the starting line-up for the 0-0 draw away to Rangers.
Hartley was dropped following a transfer bid from Saturday's opponents.
And, asked if the transfer of Gordon could still happen by Wednesday, Invauskas told BBC Sport: "I hope."
Ivanauskas had insisted before kick-off that Gordon had been left out because he still had not recovered from a groin injury that prevented him playing against Falkirk the previous weekend.
But the club captain had trained all week.
And, when asked after the game if he had wanted to include the two Scotland internationals in his side, he said: "Yes, I wanted to.
"I can't say too many words, all I can say is that it was football business, especially with Paul Hartley.
"Craig also has a problem with the groin injury he had last weekend, but he is a young boy and the speculation is not good for him."
There are also suggestions that Gordon has been the subject of an offer from an English Premiership club.
Both Arsenal and Fulham have been linked with the Scotland goalkeeper in recent months.
"It is not just Fulham," said Ivanauskas, asked if the London club's interest had now coolled.
"Many teams want Craigy and we have five days to go before the transfer window closes."
Ivanauskas had admitted on Hearts' website on Friday evening that his players were attracting interest.
"We have been approached during the transfer window by a number of clubs and agents for some of our players," he said.
"Julien Brellier, Craig Gordon, Michal Pospisil, Paul Hartley and Robbie Neilson are all attracting interest.
"We are now in negotiations with some of these clubs, but any offer must be proper in accordance with the true value of the player.
"We expect that there will be further interest in these players from clubs between now and the end of the transfer window given that we are talking about some of the best players in this country."
It is thought that Rangers would have to increase their offer to more than £1m to secure Hartley.
Full-back Neilson has also been linked with Rangers, while midfielder Brellier has been linked with other Scottish Premier League clubs.
Pospisil was subject of a £100,000 offer from Bristol City, but the English club were unable to match the striker's personal terms.

The talk over Bale is getting bloody stupid now, it's bordering more on Walcott territory more than anything. United's the wrong move for him because he won't be first choice left back, he has a much better chance at Sperms.

The main aim of his point was Henry and I sort of agree a bit, he's mister consistency in the league but in Europe/for France he can be really, really hit and miss.

It's an interesting point, but I think you can put a lot of players in that bracket. Henry yes, but he can have hit and miss moments in the league too (frustrating as hell). Most of the England team can be put in that bracket too, so I agree with Rooney. Raul was often quite ineffective playing for Spain. I remember watching him in the past and he needn't have bothered being there.

Coincidence? NO WAY! He's got a Robben injury, ie, he's fucking shit it before a big game coz he knows he'll get the piss booed right out of him.

Sir Alex Ferguson believes football is currently in a period of vastly inflated transfer fees.
Manchester United are currently keen to land Owen Hargreaves, but have been consistently rebuffed by Bayern Munich.
United have splashed out in the past on the likes of Juan Sebastien Veron, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick.
Ferguson has tried not to pay over the odds for players, but has conceded sometimes the Old Trafford side have gone that extra mile to secure a signing.
However, the United boss is looking to keep a tight leash on finances and says the club will not be held to ransom on future purchases.
"There have been periods in football over the last two decades when it became silly, absolutely silly," explained Ferguson.
"Therefore you get situation where clubs, big clubs, get into financial problems simply because of getting involved in a transfer market that's not feasible.
"We try to keep our values. Sometimes, yes, we do pay over the odds. That's been the case with many players we've brought to the club.
"I think there has to be an embargo in the sense of going to the silly figures. If you look at the top teams there's not been any activity.
"There are obstacles to you getting players in January that aren't there in the summer."
As much as I agree, it is getting more and more obscene each and every season, you can't exactly talk when you've paid stupid fees for several players.

well boo-fucking-hoo, who comes out with something like this? what about the smaller clubs, they're going to go out of business because of it. the 'big clubs' may get themselves into financial difficulties (they won't), but will still have 35000+ attendances and a plethora of people wanting to take over because they know there is money to be made.

Also, apparently we've signed (or are signing) a right-back from Deportivo by the name of Alvaro Arbeloa. He was originally a product of the Real Madrid youth system and I wonder if that's where Rafa knew of him? He's 24, so that's good - cover for Finnan.

Alvaro Arbeloa is a good pro, very determined - will replace Finnan in a few years quite easily. Can play in central defence too, but not the best in the air. Slow is a good word to describe him though. Likes to get down the flanks as much as possible, but can't really do that much when he's there.

Reo-Coker is a midfielder, Sherringham barely gets played and when they sign Bent, I'm sure that Harewood will go the other way.

Charlton should so take £18million.
They're going down anyway, so they'd have to eventually sell Bent, and they'd get nowhere near that for him then.
I'm amazed Charlton have held on for so long, both to Darren Bent, and in the bloody Premiership.

Exactly, he's gonna leave eventually - they should've long taken the money and either used it to invest in decent enough players to keep them up or, more realistically, accept that the damage has already been done and keep the money to help with next seasons Championship rebuilding.

Mascherano free to join Liverpool...
West Ham midfielder Javier Mascherano has been given special dispensation by Fifa to join Liverpool from West Ham.
Under Fifa's rules, a footballer cannot play competitively for more than two different clubs between 1 July and 30 June the following year.
Mascherano, 22, has already represented Corinthians and West Ham in that time.
But Fifa said: "The Fifa single judge ruled that Javier Mascherano is eligible to play in official matches with Liverpool with immediate effect."
Mascherano arrived at Upton Park with international team-mate Carlos Tevez on 31 August.
But he has played only six minutes since the defeat at Tottenham on 22 October and had been desperate to leave the club.

FUCK!!!
I really, really don't see the goddamn point in signing ANOTHER central midfielder, especially someone who's shown NO sign of his real talent or desire to play in the Premiership.
If this is ONLY a 6-month loan deal to ensure we have cover for this final stretch of the season, fair enough, but it better not turn into anything more.
