That move from West Ham would be well worth the effort. And SWP should take it. He'll be pretty much guarenteed first team football at West Ham - and he'd be appreciated there.

Coventry travel to game on Tube

Coventry's players had to travel on London Underground's Central Line to reach their game at QPR on time after their team coach became stranded.
"We were told the bus was stuck in traffic so we decided to get on the tube," said manager Micky Adams.

"We bought 23 single tickets at Hanger Lane station and our unsung hero was Jay Tabb, who knew we had to change at Hammersmith to go to Shepherd's Bush.

"I feel a bit sorry for him as well, as I did not even put him in the team."

Adams added: "We took a bit of stick from West Ham and Fulham fans and got to the ground at 2.20pm, went on to the pitch and won 1-0.

"Everyone talks about preparation but this proves it is a load of nonsense."
How fantastic :D

I was impressed with us today...I wanted the win so much, mainly because I'm partial to Southampton and thus hate Pompey and Redknapp, so it felt good!
Dyer was very impressive and Martins is looking better, we just have to point him in front of goal and show him which section to hit. Depending on how well we deal in the window in January, we shouldn't have any problem at all at attaining midtable mediocracy.

Anyway, fucking stupid Arsenal! I don't understand why Adebayor was used up on his own, why not fucking run Walcott alongside him? They would have ploughed through Bolton... although, that said, Bolton were fortunate. Bit of a wild tackle by Cole but FPR jumped him and by the time he was half-over him he'd already done his cuntish thing of shifting his bodyweight to his chest and was part-way through throwing himself to the ground.

Need for the rolls? No. Need for the "omgz, I need to be subbed!" No.

Bolton aren't Pretty but they're effective in what they do. and it's great to see people like Wenger moaning that they're too physical just because his 11 pansies can't take a barge or a tackle. They've performed better and have been more consistent than the majority of the premiership (Liverpool, Arsenal) this season and are deserved their place

Yup. That's why they're third. The prem is generally just all weird this season - but it's nice to see other teams actually doing well so far.

it seems to be happening with more effect this season, i mean in the last few seasons, we've had Villa and Charlton and Everton with great early starts who then fade away (with exception the everton finishing 4th) this season we have Pompey, Villa, Everton, Bolton and so on all in one season. i have the feeling the crunch will be when these teams start taking points off each other. but then again you might get one team who beats all the others in that group, and push for 3rd place (i say 3rd because noone is catching Man Utd or chelsea, sorry folks)

The annoying thing is that Nolan, easily one of the best English midfielders around at the moment in terms of what he contributes, is content to stay there when he could do SO much better.

I hate to say it... but if he moved to a team like *shudder* Everton, he'd get in the England team.

I feel so dirty for saying that... plus secretly I hope he's a red and will fall out with Fat Sam. :)

Strangely, Everton is one of the England favourite teams. if you don't play for them or the big 4 you're kind of screwed to get in the england team.

Nicky Butt, as soon as he moved away from Utd.

Heskey was Svens most capped player (tied with Beckham) before leaving Liverpool.

Even Darius Vassell away from Villa.

thinking about it, if you're an England international, the worst thing you can do is move clubs!

Gee, I wonder who Bladder could be talking aboot...

FIFA president Sepp Blatter took a swipe at Europe's football powerhouses on Monday for hogging the sport's talent.

"There is kind of like a traffic jam of players in Europe," the chief of world football's governing body told delegates at the sport and business conference Soccerex in Dubai.

"The big clubs with a lot of money they can afford to buy players - a lot of players, and the best players - and they have 25 players, 30 players in their list.

"But football, association football is played by 11 players. Eleven. What are the others doing? Waiting? Recuperating?"

Blatter said the wealthy clubs were taking players out of the market and that was reducing the level of competition in football.

"They cannot play, all of them cannot play," he said. "Already in Europe now there are teams who, after a third of the competition, cannot win (the title).
"If that level of competition is missing, then there is something wrong with our sport and we have to tackle it."

Pfffft, I stand by my original verdict of "diving cunt".

Cole should have fucking lamped him.
Ronaldo was finding it all to easy to run past Cole yesterday. So Cole was lunging in with wild tackles nowhere near the ball. They were'nt even going on the right side of the player, it was that badly timed. Cole did an almost exact replica of the challenge that got him a yellow a little while earlier but escaped a yellow. Hence I guess Ronaldo may have thought he has to roll to get the decision. I sure as hell hope he hasn't picked up any sort of knock.

Also, what the fuck was with Chelskis elbows and handballs yesterday? I swear Geremi tried to play basketball at one point.

And Scholesey shat all over Lampard. From a great height. I suppose Lampard was praying for a deflection or something so that he could get a shot on target...

Fucking class finish by Saha for our goal. :)
Fucking gay header from him to give them theirs though :(

Fifa president Sepp Blatter expects to have some kind of goal-line technology in place by next year's World Club Championship in Tokyo.

The chief of football's world governing body said it would either be a system with a chip-embedded ball triggering a sensor, or using a goal-line camera.

"I am sure that at the end of 2007 when we play the World Club Cup then we will have goal-line technology," he said.

"But we will not have video technology and stop the game."

Speaking at the Soccerex football finance seminar in Dubai, Blatter explained that football matches did not have time to constantly stop a video recorded to re-examine refereeing decisions while a game was in progress.

Whether a ball has crossed the line has been a source of controversy in many big football games, ever since Geoff Hurst's strike in the 1966 World Cup final.

But Blatter, whose presidency ends next spring, added: "We have to keep to keep the human factor and that includes refereeing error."

The Fifa president also took a swipe at Europe's big wealthy clubs for reducing the level of competition in football by hogging the sport's talent.

"There is kind of like a traffic jam of players in Europe," he said.

"The big clubs with a lot of money they can afford to buy players - a lot of players, and the best players - and they have 25-30 players in their list.

Yeah I think thats definately the partnership we should be using in the Prem. Berbs needs someone with a bit of pace to play off him and Defoe fits that bill perfectly. As much as I like Keano, when he plays with Berby he tends to play too deep living Berby up front by himself. If only we could play all three but sadly that never works when we try it.

Hope Defoe does get a decent stint alongside Berby, especially in the prem. Could be an awesome partnership.

Rangers hope to conclude an agreement with Chris Burke which will complete their crop of young Scots committing to long-term contracts after reopening negotiations with the winger.

No conclusion has been reached, but it appears that the Ibrox club have moved closer to retaining Burke's services on a new three-year deal. Talks broke down earlier this month and it seemed that the 22-year-old would postpone further discussions until January, when he would be eligible to speak with other clubs.

It is understood, though, that Burke's father and agent, Robert, has now held fresh negotiations with Martin Bain, the Rangers chief executive. Previous reports had indicated the club were willing to offer a deal which could be worth £2m, based on incentives, over the term of the agreement.

Paul Le Guen has made clear his desire to retain a homegrown core of talent on which to build his future plans, with Allan McGregor, Charlie Adam and Steven Smith having already agreed contract extensions this season.
Smith will today undergo a precautionary scan on the back problem which ruled him out of Rangers' 3-0 win over Kilmarnock.

The left-back, replaced by Sasa Papac on Sunday, was injured during last week's UEFA Cup tie in Auxerre, having been an ever-present in the side until that point. He has been troubled by a disc problem for a few weeks, but the situation has improved in recent days and he hopes to be given the all-clear to return to action in this weekend's Bank of Scotland Premierleague meeting with Falkirk.

Ian Murray, is expected to make a playing comeback today after a long-term absence. The former Hibernian player has not featured since Rangers' pre-season tour of South Africa after being diagnosed with reactive arthritis.
Murray, though, is in line to feature for the Ibrox reserves in their match against Dunfermline at East End Park

Occasionally, G14 do do things to benefit the whole. They're working through now new processes to compensate teams who have players injured on international duty, but even that was born from selfish intentions. Of course the teams are in it for themselves. Why wouldn't they be. It's the same with committees like that the world over.

Some interesting stuff in there, mainly about them continuously lobbying for international associations to provide compensation when players are injured on international duty (hardly surprising when you're talking about these clubs who are home to some of the biggest names in the world).

Then, there was this which I completely forgot about/missed:

In July 2006 one of its members, Juventus, were found to be guilty of match-fixing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Serie_A_scandal). Later on Juventus were demoted to the second tier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serie_B) of their domestic league. It is unclear how this will affect their membership in the G-14.

How in the name of all that is spherical can they still be part of this "elite" group when they're all completely fucking bent? They should've been booted out on their arses and AC Milan are on eggshells too.

Carragher as DM could work well to let gerrard roam free around midfield actually
Bellamy can't play either can he? Hasn't he got that court case to go to?

Bellamy won't be available for selection for up to 2 weeks with this courtcase, he's training with Cardiff (I think) in the meantime which is alright.

Carragher in the middle would do a great job because thats where he played (to great effect) for the England U-21's... however, I'd sooner leave Agger and Carragher (I'm nicknaming them Carr-agger now) to continue their partnership at the back and put Sami in the middle - he's done it before, late on in games, and his height is very useful in attacks but his lack of pace is less of a hinderance in the midfield than it is at the back.

This reminds me of a little story a cabbie told me when I was at the Community Sheild.

When Millwall has United in the final, the Cardiff fans had planned an ambush on the Millwall fans, basically ruining everyones day.

Both, Man Utd, Millwall, and the police caught wind of it, and weren't happy about it.

Apparently, there is a massive long road, which you can only get out of if you go right to the other end, if you know what I mean, near the Millenium stadium, which the police close off during match days.

The police sent the few hundred strong Cardiff fans down one end of the road, to be met by both Millwall AND Man Utd, and thus Cardiff had the shit kicked out of them!

Brilliant.

the only thing against that story is that no Millwall fans were arrested that day. so either the police really did just let it go, or it's a bit wrong, like. Also if anything surely the welsh police would be on the cardiff side, they're hardly the most welcoming police force for football fans...

Honestly, I can't see Defoe going to United - he's never gonna displace Rooney or Saha so the best he could hope for is deputising for Saha. At Liverpool, at least he'd stand a chance.

Dunno, seems a bit harsh to get rid of Bellamy after only 6 months even though his "finishing" has been beyond shit. But, that said, Defoe's barely even been able to command a starting place at Spurs until the last few games hasn't he? What did you expect? :D

Seriously, take Johnson out the side and they move down severeal notches and then when you also take out Cahill they have little or no goal threat at all. The only other player worth keeping an eye on is Arteta who is, for me, their best player by several hundred country miles - Cahill and "AJ" can suck a fat cock in the first division.

Wallwork hurt after bar stabbing

West Brom midfielder Ronnie Wallwork has been stabbed several times in an incident at a bar in Manchester.
The 29-year-old, on loan at Barnsley, was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to his hand, stomach and back.

Police, who were called to the Sugar Lounge in the city centre shortly after 2330 GMT on Thursday, do not believe the attack was random.

Wallwork is now in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Wallwork, a holding midfielder who can also play in defence, came though the youth system at Manchester United.

As he struggled to break into the first team Old Trafford, he was sent to Belgian club Royal Antwerp on loan.

However, that spell was marred by controversy when he was banned from football for life after he allegedly attacked a referee.

That punishment was later reduced to a three-year suspension, of which two years were probationary.

Wallwork made just 28 appearances for United before moving to West Brom on a free transfer in 2002.

He was named the club's player of the year for 2004-05 but although he was given a new two-year contract in August, he was allowed to go out on loan at the end of November.

Warnock Bewildered By Congestion
Fri 01 Dec, 8:09 AM

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has backed Arsene Wenger's complaints about the fixture list leading up to Christmas.

The Blades take on a Charlton side this weekend who were not involved in midweek action - while their opponents were taking part in a bruising encounter against fellow strugglers Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets themselves enjoyed the previous weekend off - and after Wenger described Arsenal's fixture programme as a "farce", Warnock had a certain degree of sympathy.

"I don't understand the fixture list. We have to play three times in a week, Watford didn't play at all last weekend and Charlton haven't played this week. For once I am in agreement with Arsene Wenger about something," said Warnock.

"It's bizarre, we've got 10 days off after our game on Saturday."

Warnock was amazed how the fixtures could be so seemingly muddled when the fixture planners have modern technology at their disposal, but joked: "That's modern technology for you. If you can't get cameras across the goal-lines we haven't got much chance of doing anything else when we've got men on the moon have we?"
For once, people are agreeing with Mr. Wenger. And for once, I agree with Neil Warnock. Surely this is a good advocate for going back to saturdays being the days for football.
