Arsenal and Manchester United will battle it out for the signature of £7m-rated Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi when the transfer window opens in January. (News of the World)
The Gunners are also competing with Barcelona for the capture of £5m Argentina keeper Oscar Ustari, 20. (Star on Sunday)
And in what looks to be a busy January for Arsene Wenger, they are also trailing Gillingham's 20-year-old striker Matthew Jarvis, along with rivals Tottenham. (Sunday Express)
However, Spurs may prefer the more experienced option of former striker Teddy Sheringham, with him falling down the pecking order at West Ham. (People)
Charlton are lining up a swap deal for unsettled Birmingham striker Mikael Forssell, with Marcus Bent heading to St Andrew's. (News of the World)
Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder is keen to add to his strike force again in January, with Shola Ameobi facing hip surgery in the new year. (Sunday Mirror)
OTHER GOSSIP
West Ham striker Dean Ashton is following in the footsteps - literally - of Wayne Rooney and David Beckham by using a surgical "air-cast" boot to aid his recovery from a broken ankle. (News of the World)
Leeds chairman Ken Bates has placed former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri at the top of his wanted list to succeed sacked boss Kevin Blackwell. (People)
And that might not be the only managerial change, with Manchester City apparently lining up Bolton boss Sam Allardyce to replace Stuart Pearce. (People)
AND FINALLY...
Arsenal striker Theo Walcott's father Don, mother Lynn and older brother Ashley, are all set to appear in the next Harry Potter film - The Order of the Phoenix. Theo himself was scheduled to also star, but had to pull out due to club and England under-21 commitments. (Sunday Times)

the millwall fans just stood up and clapped them.
I woke up this morning practically begging teletext to tell me spackman had resigned... th man is totally cluless. he finally plays a 4-4-2 but he put two defenders as wingers. just like last year, we don't even look like scoring with the open goals we get

I've just noticed that you support Exeter too.
When I used to play for my local team, Alex Inglethorpe came to our training sessions for a couple of years and coached us.
I think he coaches at Spurs now, not sure his role though.
Indeed I do. Arsenal are my second I-have-to-support-a-team-that-wins-occasionally team. It also annoys my mum like hell that I'd support Exeter over Arsenal :D
Alex Inglethorpe was a good bloke, but he just seemed to be unable to give us that extra push that we needed, which was a shame. Also, getting a job coaching at Spurs was far too good to pass up. I'm sure Steve Perryman told him what it would be like at Spurs. I can't remember what he does now - I think it's just a general coaching role.

I guarantee it will be Wise, remember when he had just left Millwall, there was talk then about him joining leeds, we know he's a friend of Bates.
Also, whereas Wilkins does have the bottle to do that. he's still a cunt. he shouldn't even be at the club. at the moment he's a 'consultant' he's also been the director of football. for some reason we're making up loads of silly roles to keep him at the club and noone seems to kow why, are what in fact he even contribues

Dan - I got a blast from the past yesterday Olivier Tebily - Possibly the worst defender in living memory.
Loved by Rangers fans, affectionatley known as "bombscare" by Celtic fans.
Story at one point was Celtic were chasing David Weir for defence at a time when they had Schedit (Pronounced "Shite". No, really!) and Tebily.
This move worried celtic fans and made every football fan piss them selves as the Celtic defence would read Weir, Tebily Schedit....

Plus if he fucks up in midfield there's 4 defenders to cover up after him

I remember the last thing he did for Ipswich...gave the ball away for Liverpool to score...so we paid £5million for him...as you would of course.

This is what we kind of did with Rio Ferdinand for his first 6 months or so. We played him just infront of the back 4, but just behind the midfield so Matteo and Radebe could mop up his errors. Our best season since 91/92.
He smartened his act up and became the best English centre back in 2002, so we sold him for more than he was worth.

Next time you're on the verge of appointing a manager, and the name leaks (and it will), and virtually the entire Millwall fanbase is against them, please listen to them as they have more experience of Millwall than you do, more experience of football and consequently more idea of what makes a good manager than most of you, and generally speaking, won't just be up in arms at a managerial prospect for the sake of it. The bottom line is, if virtually EVERYONE thinks your prospective manager will be crap, then they probably will be.

You could do a Bristol City. We got to the playoffs two years in a row with Danny Wilson and then sacked him. We then appointed Brian Tinnion as player manager and managed to scub around in the bottom three for half of last season. Luckily the board got shot of him and hired Gary Johnson.

This made me laugh (from IMDB.com)
Tom Cruise comforted David Beckham after the devastated soccer superstar was dropped from the England team last month. Beckham announced his resignation as England captain following the side's World Cup exit in July, and was then axed from the national squad by new coach Steve McClaren. And among the first people Beckham called was his friend Cruise, who in the past has flown to Spain to watch him play for Real Madrid. Beckham says, "When I got to America I phoned Tom. He's a great guy to be able to speak to because he is a very positive-minded person. It is good to have people around you at that point. He talked about everything I had done in the World Cup, about the goal I scored and the goals I set up. He said I was a great player, that I played for Real Madrid, I've got a healthy family and three boys and a wife who love me to bits. He's a great example of someone who stays positive through everything. And that's how I started to get over what had happened with the England news. I got over it that way, with friends around me."

Tralalalalalalala! :D I'm a very pleased bunny today... we scored 3, looked reasonably proficient in front of goal and didn't even play that well. 'bout fucking time too because that's what United and Arseanal and Chelski can do - play pretty average and still take 3 points.
I am SO fucking pleased that I left Gonzalez in my Yahoo team and added Kuyt! I'M CATCHING YOU, SAWAH!!! I was sceptical when we first signed Kuyt... but fuck me, he's looking a bargain at £10M.
AND RIISE'S GOAL... the sort of boneriffic effort you expect from Johny Arney.
Newcastle's goal was the most blates offside goal ever... but I'm pleased the linesman was too fucking thick to see it, Everton have been having too many decisions go their way - it was about time they got shafted.

Former Portsmouth (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/fo/portsmouth/index.html) striker Dario (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/fo/profiles/23936.html) Silva has undergone emergency surgery following a serious car crash in Uruguay.
The 33-year-old was driving his car in Montevideo but lost control and hit a column of street lights.
Two other former Uruguay internationals, Elbio Pappa and Dardo Pereira, were with him but suffered only minor blows.
Doctor Mario (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/fo/profiles/20383.html) Cancela, of La Espanola hospital admitted, that Silva has been placed in a medically induced coma and they are concerned with an injury to his leg.
"He is a patient with multiple traumatisms, a cranium fracture and an exposed fracture of his right leg," Cancela said.
"He was operated on by doctor Lopez and we are really worried about his leg. It is undergoing different tests and scans.
"The leg has suffered a very serious injury. The patient is under a pharmacological coma.
"Now, we are interested in saving his life."
Silva played 49 matches for the Uruguayan national team, having scored 15 goals. He played the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan.
Silva is currently unattached, after leaving Portsmouth (http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/fo/portsmouth/index.html) in February.

Apparently, McQuiffy is watching Woodgate carefully with a view to bringing him back to the England squad if he remains fit. Now, that's a good move and all, but if he gets into the starting line-up ahead of Carragher then it just further proves that McLaren doesn't know his fucking arse from his elbow.

Ok, thoughts on Arsenal and United games last night?
Arsenal played very, very well for me - the versatility of being able to rotate Rosicky, Van Persie and Hleb was effective... but fuck me, Hleb's STILL a crap player and an utter waste of £13M. Great first goal, fantastic cross from Toure and a bitchin' header - if I could have any other right-back in the country for us, it'd be Toure.
United were shit, Rooney was absent, FPR gave the ball away at every available opportunity and had a few shit dives as per usual. Benfica showed how truly wank they are, they never even looked like half scoring, the useless cunts... and that goal was fucking flukey, took a wicked deflection off the defenders foot otherwise it was heading into the retarded keepers hands.
Zippy Ate My Drumkit
September 27th 2006, 07:23 AM
Wait till Hleb settles properly.
It would help if they played him behind the strikers, which is where he used to play.

Nah, Van Persie plays off Henry pretty well and I think, if they changed that, the next in line would be Rosicky on account of him being awesome.

I think it was closer 15 too, although I can't exactly remember. It's true with Hleb that it's all about position. When he first came, he was playing down the left of midfield and he was fairly shocking, but when he plays in that role just off the strikers, he's worth every penny of his fee. But he is down the pecking order now Rosicky's there.
But Arse played really well last night - I was really happy that they didn't go 2-0 up and just give up. They did sit back, but not as badly as I've seen in the past. Porto were very ineffective. I didn't see that United game.

I'm happy he could turn into pretty much the best signing of the summer. I was very happy with Gallas too - he looked very comfortable playing in the centre defence with Toure. Hope he's not too badly injured.
Mr. Ed
September 27th 2006, 09:38 AM
Rosicky was definately the best buy of the summer - in terms of skill-vs-price because you paid peanuts for a proven world class player with European experience. I farking love the guy.
Wenger said this morning that Gallas is highly doubtful for the weekend game and he might even struggle for the game after that depending on how the scan goes.

It was fairly identical to saturday's goal. It's so blimin unusual to see. It's just added another level of genius to the man. He was completely toying with the Porto right back last night - he was getting the ball past him in the corner just for fun by the end of the game.

It was a good goal - Toure did one of his trademark bursts from right-back, down the wing and whipped a teasing cross in from paralell with the edge of the 18 yard box... it went to the back post where Henry was, he leapt in the air (seemed to stay for fecking ages) and then headed it down, back across goal. Keeper never got near it.

http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=418583&CPID=8&clid=&lid=2&title=Barclays+renew+Prem+deal
Barclays have extended their sponsorship of the Premier League until 2010.
The bank have agreed a deal worth £65.8 million to continue their association with the league, having been sponsors since 2001.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore expressed his happiness that Barclays had agreed to renew their sponsorship.
"Barclays' commitment to the Premier League has been unstinting and this latest deal will make Barclays Group our longest serving title sponsor," said Scudamore.
"In that time the Premier League has continued to grow and develop both domestically and internationally, which has matched Barclays' own business plan and aspirations.
"I look forward to continuing the excellent relationship we have built up over the previous six years and am particularly pleased that this new deal encompasses our highly successful pre-season tournament, the Premier League Asia Trophy."
Barclays president Bob Diamond said: "We all know about the fantastic appeal of the Barclays Premiership in the UK, but this sponsorship also fits our international presence and aspirations particularly in Asia and continental Europe."

Fucking hell, last night was a tale of two halves fo' shiz... first half we looked fantasic. Crouch's second was fucking amazing - that's gonna be in-line for goal of the season without a doubt.
In all fairness, Galatasary played a lot better second half once Sas came on... but the two goals were almost identical and the same two people were to blame - Aurelio and Garcia. Aurelio got caught out of position so many fucking times and Garcia never drops back in to cover - the rest of the team played well... Gerrard looked more active and effective in 90 minutes than he has the entire rest of the reason stuck out on the wing and Kuyt again looked pretty good.

Sometimes, having a player like that in your team is vital, even if he isn't scoring. Paul Dickov might only get 10 a season in the league, but he's a bloody pest who people hate playing against.

Liverpool close in on new stadium
Liverpool's plans to build a new 60,000-capacity all-seater stadium have moved a step closer after the club secured crucial European funding.
The European Union Objective One grant of £9m will be spent on regenerating the area around the Stanley Park site.
Liverpool were given the money after guaranteeing that the £180m funding for the entire project is in place.
They can now claim £5m from Liverpool City Council and £8.9m from the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
The city council approved a 999-year lease on the stadium site - which is 300 yards away from Anfield - on 8 September.
Planning permission for the scheme came with the proviso that investment would be made in the surrounding area, including the park.
The European money will not be spent on the new stadium but on schemes such as the creation of a shop-lined plaza on the site of their current Anfield home.
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry said: "It's another significant step forward in our plans for the building of a new stadium, which we have always seen as a catalyst for the regeneration of the whole area."
Councillor Flo Clucas, chairman of the Objective One project selection sub-committee, added: "This is a major step forward for the people of Anfield.
"It will underpin substantial investment by other partners, whose commitment will help transform the neighbourhood."

Just found some respect for Sir Alex (http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/70899.html)
A Scottish Royal Marine died after a training accident as he abseiled from a helicopter during an exercise.
Gordon Campbell, 28, from Old Meldrum, Aberdeen, died on Monday after falling 100ft while abseiling from a helicopter in the Brecon Beacons, on the Welsh-English border in Herefordshire.
Yesterday it emerged that Sir Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager and a family friend, intervened to arrange a flight home for Marine Campbell's parents, who were on holiday in the Far East.
The dead man's parents, Gordon and Margaret, were told of the accident while on holiday with friends. As they tried to arrange an emergency flight home, Sir Alex is understood to have called Sir Richard Branson to organise seats on the next Virgin Airways flight to the UK.
Mr Gordon, a semi-retired builder, has been a friend of Sir Alex's since the early-1980s, when he was manager of Aberdeen FC. The two are understood to have kept in touch after Sir Alex moved to Old Trafford.

As for last night, still not too impressed by Martins - he scored two last night don't forget it was against a very mediocre side and he still looks like a baby deer in the Premiership. I'll wait until he sorts his league form out before passing judgement.
Good win for Blackburn, I'm impressed at how Hughes is working the team and how the fuck he's getting a good streak off Benni McCarthy is beyond me. He's utter cack.
LOLZ @ West Ham. Zamora was right, the Argies really have unsettled the first team haven't they? I could see Mascherano fitting in permanently but not Tevez, he's too fucking selfish and incorprating them into the team seems to have ripped the heart out of the West Ham side and completely changed their approach... and it's nae working.
Spurs can count themselves very, very lucky to be through. Keane is nowhere near 100% fit, Mido looks a different player in a bad sense of the word... losing that 3 stone has cost him his strength on the ball so he's looking a tad less useful and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Defoe left soon - this rotation system is killing him stone dead.

It's not just a big stadium thing. as good as filling in the corners look, it stops a lot of needed light and general 'weather' from getting to the pitch. i guess though if you have the money to relay the pitch every ten seconds it's not a problem

Hahaha, Do you think Global warming will affect his performances in years to come?
"A shift in global sea temperatures is causing Didier Drogba to play at superhuman levels, a study suggests. Jose Mourinho was quoted as saying. 'he is now a god, just like me' and Captain Stu has blasted the Chelsea striker saying 'he's still a blue nosed cunt'"

So Wenger has come out today saying he's worried about the new trend of foreign ownership in England. He said about working at Arsenal, "I feel the soul of football in this country is first granted by the owners of the clubs. Here, for example, at Arsenal I feel I am really at an English club."
Funny you feel that way Arsene, seeing as how you rarely ever play a single English player in your side.
What a tool.

Ahaha, that was my first thought - "so, how many English people are gonna make the Arsenal team this year?"
