I reckon its Huth.
And I also see Carrick was dropped to the bench for the game against Arsenal. He didn't miss one game for Spurs under Jol when he was fit yet he's already being demoted to the bench for United.

Very true. I was happy to see Carrick on the bench. He's a better player than John O'Shea, and I'd much rather we play against him any day of the week (even though he's in one of my dream teams. Ho hum...)

Ouch! (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/5359846.stm)
Given injury likened to car crash
Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder says the surgeon who operated on Shay Given has likened the goalkeeper's injury to one familiar with a car crash.
Given sustained a one-centimetre tear in his bowel when he slid in for a ball with West Ham's Marlon Harewood.
"The surgeon said he has never seen an injury like this through football," said Roeder.
"He has seen it happen in car crashes where there has been impact - I suppose that is what has caused it this time."
Newcastle won the game 2-0 at Upton Park, but Given is expected to be out for at least six weeks after the initial diagnosis.
He was rushed to hospital after suffering severe abdominal pains but Roeder cleared Harewood of any blame.
"Shay would be the first to admit when he sees the pictures that Marlon Harewood thought he had an opportunity to get to the ball," added Roeder.
"I suppose if it was Shola (Ameobi), we would have expected Shola to try to get to the ball if his team was losing 2-0. Shay being Shay, as brave as he is, was not going to turn away and not go for the ball.
"He went for the ball, both of them were trying to get the ball fairly and unfortunately, Shay came off worst."
Steve Harper will step in as first-team keeper and Roeder insists he will not rush Given back.
"It is a question now of waiting for Shay to get fit again," he said.
"But this is all about Shay, this is not about us rushing him back or anything like that.
"He will be given all the time he needs and all the help he needs by the club to make a full recovery, which he will do - and in the meantime, we are lucky to have Steve Harper."

Oh my god, that program was one of the best investigative programs I've ever seen!! The FA have to take action now, no longer can they sweep it under the rug and claim that football is squeaky clean - we've all been clearly shown just how murky and scummy the game is.
That Knut guy is a fucking legend... but he's gonna have to keep a low profile for a long, long time or else he could be in serious trouble.
That agent from Newcastle was the worst of the bunch, what an absolute abortion of a human being.
Bolton are fucked. Simple as that, Sam Allardyce being named by three seperate agents shows that he MUST have done something in the past but the lack of evidence means he probably couldn't have any action taken against him directly. His reputation, however, is shot to shit. Nobody's gonna want to touch him with a 60ft barge pole.
Phil Gartside can fuck right off, that cunt is on the FA panel which investigates corruption in football and he's sitting in tapping-up meetings and then complaining about agents to the papers? You're fucked too mate.
Craig Allardyce is a scummer, no wonder he quit as an agent - he knew this shit was gonna blow him out of the water in spectacular style.
Word on the street is that Chelsea are going to incure a points deduction because of Frank Arnesen but it won't be as part of the Ashley Cole suspended sentence that they got. Dunno why but apparently it won't. I find it ironic that he, after being tapped up from Spurs, is videotaped blatantly trying to tap someone up.
My heart sank when I heard Liverpool mentioned, I hope to jehovah that meeting went on behind the backs of, and without the knowledge of, Moores, Parry, Benitez and Steve Heighway (director of the youth academy) and, if we have any sense at all, the two guys in the video will be sacked so fast that their arses don't touch the ground and the club should co-operate fully with the impending investigation.
Me and Dan were texting each other during the whole program and he reckons the manager who "got scared" and backed out was Wenger because of the use of the Frenchness. Hmmmmmmmm.
... and all the people who claimed they were lying to gain information and stuff. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Is that the best you could come up with? You get caught with your trousers well and truly round your ankles... you could have at least claimed you yourself were a spy for a BBC documentary about corruption into football. :D

Also:
- Boro are fuming over the way that youngster was offered around.
- The FA confirm they will launch an "exhaustive" investigation into the claims.
- Arsenal now sit in a net total of £262M of debt.
- UEFA are in talks with European sports ministers over a possible cap on transfer fees and wages - apparently a clubs allowed spending would be directly related to their income.
- Blackwell's been sacked by Leeeeeeeeeds.

Benitez is apparently gonna start Gerrard wide left again tonight. :( I like his reasoning whereby Stevie is given a Ronaldinho/Zidane like role in order to dictate the tempo of the game... but why not leave him on the right side? On the left, he has to cut back all the time onto his right foot to get the best possible service into the box.
As much as I like Sissoko... his discipline is cause for concern. He got 11 yellows and one red last season and has already been booked 3 times in 4 matches this season. Anyone can see that's cause for concern. He's deffo a player worth having but his temper makes him a liability at times and he is no way better than either Gerrard or the Xabster and, thus, shouldn't be a guarenteed starter.
The middle of our midfield is Gerrard and Alonso, end of. SORT IT OUT!!!

He'll have to take a salary cut from what he was on at Charlton, but he seems like the type to relish the challenge. Especially given that he wouldn't have to worry about the debt since it's next to gone.

Indeed so, and the first loan signing to be made captain in Premiership Football history, i believe.
I'm all for the idea of a salary cap and transfer cap, but the only way to suppress the money is to put a numerical limit on it, rather than a percentage as it (percentage) immediately benefits the richer clubs. It is of course, illegal under Brussels/Strasbourgs Employmen and Human Rights courts (shockshockhorror) but makes sense as a means of keeping finances under control and limiting the money in the sport. At least more clubs (if not all) would turn a healthy profit which could pay the shareholders and be open for investment in facilites.
Personally, i think i percentage cap only keeps wages down by a matter of minimums, and makes the gap between richer and smaller clubs even bigger. Seriously, what type of wages could Sheffield United, Bolton and Wigan afford as a percentage compared to Chelsea and Manchester United?
EDIT - Mike Newell has emerged as the front runner for the Leeds job.

Alonso's goal was just on Sky Sports News - Probably shown again in about an hour
Good strike, but the goalie slipping made it.
It was his first goal since he scored against Luton in january - from inside his own half!
Wonder the odds you'd have got - 2 goals for one team scored from inside own half, without scoring any other goals for the team in between

I am very pleased that we dicked on Newcastle last night, very pleased indeed. :)
Kuyt looked outstanding, Bellamy caused lots of problems, Garcia (shock horror) had a brilliant game and Agger... as usual... was a rock at the back. That kid is fucking amazing, even more so when you consider that he's only 21. Alonso was the star man last night, every single pass of his was inch perfect and the one he slid through for the first goal was an utter gem.
Newcastle looked really poor, Parker went downhill, Emre was non-existant and Martins looks like a complete and utter waste of money. Ameobi tried his best but he shouldn't be the one chasing every single punted ball, the poor lad needs hip surgery.

Great goal and everything, but if Harper didn't slip he'd have caught that easily.
still it was a poor performance by newcastle, even with the blatant penalties.
Liverpool could have scored 5 or 6 if the finishing was better
Captain Stu

Aye, could easily have finished 6-0... Kuyt should have had one or two more, Garcia could've had a couple too and Belly should've scored.

I'm normally in favour of Scott Parker playing for England but, based on his performance last night, he'd be well out of his depth. He was so piss-poor and a fortunate cunt to not get caught for that blatantly deliberate handball... and to go down holding his face to escape it was doubley cuntish.
Same for Babyaro, we should easily have had a penalty when he smacked Kuyt (I think it was) right in the face.

Morientes happy to be out of English football
Spanish striker Fernando Morientes says he is happy to have escaped the rough and tumble of the English Premier League after returning to Spain and joining Valencia.
The 30-year-old former Liverpool striker has scored two goals in two league games for his new club and bagged a hat-trick in the Champions League against Olympiakos Piraeus a week ago.
"I wanted to return to what I knew and play the kind of football in which I felt more comfortable," Morientes told sports daily Sport on Thursday.
The former Real Madrid striker failed to make his mark with Liverpool and only managed 12 goals in 61 appearances.
After less than a year and a half with the Merseysiders he joined Valencia in July for a reported fee of six million euros (4million pounds).
"I didn't like the physical nature of the game in England or the referees who let more things go, and who blow for fewer fouls than they do here," Morientes added.
"A striker isn't protected from rival defences there, and they gave me a really hard time."
Morientes is expected to lead the line for Valencia on Sunday when they visit champions Barcelona in the Primera Liga. Both sides have 100 percent records.
Fuck off, pussy, just admit you're too old, too slow and too half-arsed to make it in the best league in the world.

I only watched the highlights, but we were shit last night...I only remember us being in Liverpool's half twice...yes we should have had a penatly, it was almost a given that...but even then we wouldn't have deserved a goal (I don't even know who would take them now too).
I feel sorry for Steve Harper, he's such a good guy and a great keeper but because of Given's form and the reserves wanting to push Krul, he's very rusty and it's obvious is confidence is shot, it's upsetting to see. Also Ameobi is really pleasing me, he hasn't properly been cleared to play for a while now because of his hip injury, nobody knows what is wrong with it but he's doing damn good to play through the pain.
All in all, we deserved nothing really, it was just one of those nights...we played well at West Ham on Sunday but I still think our team is gelling together and sadly doing it slowly.
And you guys make me laugh so much...Martins has played like two and a half games for us and already you are judging him as a waste off, most of you lot talk some utter shit sometimes you know and are blinded by the red! ...Maybe he will be a waste of money, I don't know, I didn't know much about him before we bought him, but he has to have a chance to settle in and he looked pretty damn sharp against West Ham! Guys like Peter Crouch weren't setting the world alight straight away either and if you're judging...Martins looks no worse than Kuyt!

VERY interesting article with Henry in the Mirror this morning.
Firstly, he donated his prize money for winning the Golden Boot last season (around £27,000) to a charity he's supporting but then he revealed two rather shocking things:
1. He's a massive fan of teh style of play of Paul Dickov and Kevin Davies.
2. Had he not joined Arsenal, the club he most wanted to join was Liverpool. He loves playing at Anfield and says playing in the same team as Gerrard would be great.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/tm_objectid=17800224%26method=full%26siteid=94762% 26headline=thierry%2d%2dmy%2dhero%2ddickov-name_page.html
Dickov? Davies? WHY?!
Two-Bob Peeters

Dickov because of the way he's always moving and buzzing around the area. and Davies because of his 'physical but fair' approach.

Yeah, if he'd said someone like... I dunno... someone who's not exactly "classy" but a very effective forward who works for the team then i could get it. Davies is just a donkey with a quiff. Can't think of anyone off the top of me head...
Apparently, things are less than peachy with the West Ham forwards because of Tevez. Mascherano is fitting into the team well but Tevez's style of play is majorly pissing the other forwards off because they're all used to working together and for each other and Tevez tends to play a free role and do what he wants, when he wants.
Also, I can't exactly see Juventus tempting Mascherano away... why would he want to go play in Serie B?

Yeah. I'm hiding money away for PES6. Hopefully by then, I'll only be classed as a rem whilst playing, and not a full blown football spastic. I lost 7-1 to some french guy yesterday - it was 1-1 at half time :o (I've only played 9 games though)
I've found PES is easier to play on the PSP - the controls are much more reactive when it comes to dribbling and turning on the ball.

When Man Utd played Celtic in a pre season friendly, the Man Utd Team bus went around Govan - The area of Glasgow where Fergie was raised and worked as an apprentice at the shipyards - Fergie gave the players an education about things that happened there when he was growing up, he then advised them to remember what was said as he'd quiz them on it later.

No. At least he played a more recognisable team. But it's never easy to go to a small club like that, and it's wrong for a manger to underestimate like that. I've seen it happen so many times - over the past 15 years or so, we've pulled out really good performances against Villa, Everton and Coventry. It took Everton over 200 minutes to score against us a few years back.
That's what I was afraid Arse would do today. Get a cracking result on sunday, and then go to pieces today against Sheffield. I've seen them do it so often.

That sort of thing make my blood boil.
1-1 against Reading, and the fact that they deserved at least a point makes my blood boil

I've just noticed that you support Exeter too.
When I used to play for my local team, Alex Inglethorpe came to our training sessions for a couple of years and coached us.
I think he coaches at Spurs now, not sure his role though.

He'll blame it on the fact he lives in the "Goldfish Bowl" of London.
And gets bummed - not by a woman with a strap on, but by a man.
Also, from watching how he phas played in his career so far, Micah Richards = New Clarence Seedorf.
