Hi,apologies if this has been asked before (I did have a search before posting) but has Dave ever given a meaning behind 'Tired of you'?
I always loved the song and the chorus gives it a feel of a bittersweet love song, but the lyrics seem a lot darker and I've heard it suggested it's about being cheated on or relationship troubles. Just wondering if there is an 'official' explanation from the man himself.
Cheers!

The lyrics are pretty straight forward, I don't think he's even bothered explaining them. This is something he said about the song anyway...
"This is a really sparse one guitar and one vocal song - but then in the chorus (Queen's) Brian May over-dubbed these four-part guitar harmony swells - it's fucking insane. He's the only guest appearance on the record but you wouldn't even have to put his fucking name on the album because someone would hear that song and be like 'oh my god - that sounds like Queen'. It sounds like a string section - but he did it with a guitar and it's fucking amazing."

The quote is just about the music, not the meaning. I don't really find the lyrics that straight forward - "shame on me for the ruse / shame on me for the blues", "cursed by love so dire, one more boy for hire", "I won't go getting tired of you" all in themselves could be taken in a number of ways and put together I admit I don't quite get the overall message. :o
Either way it's a fantastic song, but if there isn't an "official" meaning what is the general concensus by people here? Unrequited love / being cheated on / pain of love / some blatant other thing I need to be slapped in the face with to get?
Cheers.

Yeas I know but thats all I could find that he's said about it. Dave doesn't talk much about song meanings, probably because most of his lyrics either have no meaning or are just pretty standard.
I do remember something else that he said about Tired Of You in an interview just before One By One was released. I think he said that when he was recording the vocal tracks he was trying to hold back from crying or something.
