I was reading a topic in the "Musician's Resources" section of the boards that reminded me of a post that was made here a while back about the Foos' sound quality on their albums. The topic (I think) was about the band's sound getting progressively worse with each album. Does anyone remember this? I wish I had saved it. At any rate, (I believe it was the person who started it) mentioned the technical reasons why this is. Now, I know nothing about this type of thing (Recording, that is, and all that it entails. I have not had the time or money to invest in it (yet), but I find it very intriguing and cool.)

I agree with him/her about the sound quality on the Foos' albums...The band makes great music, no doubt about that...But lately the quality...well, everything just sounds so subdued. I have the gist of what the person said but I cannot repeat it to you in words. Anyone remember this?

I'm just surprised the sound quality doesn't bother the band, too. I've talked with my friend about it, and she agrees that it could be a lot better. It doesn't do their music justice. I should reinforce that this is no knock on the band themselves OR their music....Just the quality, lately. Everything else rocks.

Does anyone know why, lately, this has been so?

Erm well the debut album to me has pretty poor sound and then after that the next 2 albums were supurb sound quality. The worst was One by One which had some distortion going on. As for the latest album I think it sounds fine. So I don't agree that the sound quality gets worse after each album.

I don't know if it is getting worse every album, but the latest albums (primarily One by One and In Your Honor) sound really subdued.

i've noticed that with the past two albums too. mostly on the harder songs that don't sound that intense because of how it was recorded. It's pretty easy to tell if you just listen to monkey wrench or everlong then pop in best of you. The drums seem a lot quieter and the guitars seems a little different. Acousticly, they sound great.

It's Nick I tells ya. They are already looking for a new producer for the next album.
