The 100 section is the floor area. The 200 section is seats but it's not too far so it's still good if you can't get floor. I have a hard time seeing from the 300's and I've never been in the lawn area but I can't imagine it being any good.

The Molson Amphitheatre is located inside Ontario Place. Your concert ticket gives you admission into Ontario Place which means you don't have to wait in line at an admission booth. Just walk up to the entrance and show the entrance attendant your ticket. The entrance to the Molson Amp is located to your right when you walk in. It should be blocked off with barriers. There are different entrances into Molson Amp located in the park in case you want to wander Ontario Place.
The difference between lawn and pit, besides price, is the pit is standing room general admission and it is the closest you can be to the stage. Lawns are the farthest you can be from the stage. They are behind the 400 section. You can sit/stand anywhere on lawns just like the pit area.

i have been there too often in the past 11 years but haven't been yet this year.

Difference between pit and lawn:
The GA Pit is an area between the stage and the 200 level section. There are no chairs for GA events in this area whereas the 200, 300, and 400 sections are seated areas. The floor slopes up slightly closer to the 200 section. However, the 200 section is elevated off of the floor so you won't be blocking their view. typically, you must show your ticket to enter the GA pit and at that time you are given a wristband and your ticket has a large black mark drawn on the back. However, if they don't draw on the back, you might be able to exit with your wristband, give you ticket to a friend, and sneak them down - i have done that a few times. If you show up early, you can be front row, made easier by the fact that you are competing with 1000 people - at best - for that spot.

The lawns are the lawns. 250 feet from the stage at best. uncovered from the elements. you are sitting on grass. however, the lawns are sloped - almost like this was an amphitheatre or something - so everyone can sit and still have a good view. for chill shows that are generic with their other shows like blue rodeo or dave matthews, this is a cool spot. everyone is in a good mood. that said, i would never sit here. even with large television screens showing closeups, it is just too far and the sound is too distorted. and your lawn ticket will not even let you in the seated area as the ticket checkers will turn you away. so do not expect to even come close to the GA area with lawn tickets.

they have improved immensely in the past 11 years and at good shows you can hear clearly even in the 400s. however, if you are too close to the side, the sound can be a bit odd. i would recommend anywhere from the middle sections of the 300s forward trying to be closer to the centre.

reason for the hate on the amp?
i would have to say the lineups entering and exiting the place. through the main gate, everyone squeezes into the place over a bridge and around a bend that leads into a tight concessions area. it can take awhile to get in and even longer to get out. while you are not in the lineup to go to ontario place - because most people are in ontario place long before a show is ever on - there are just lots of people moving through an area with lots of distractions. i usually show up just before the opening act and walk in with minimal slowdowns through gate 1 and then exit through the lawns on the way out (gate 3); you can cut through the wider ontario place exit and avoid the pushing and crampness of the bridge exit.

also, the amp loves facility fees and service charges on their tickets. sometimes they are big ones. i bet the ff fee for the foo show will be about $4 per ticket and the service charge will be about $9 per ticket. yep, add $13 to the ticket price. such a burn when the amp and ticketmaster get together. and that is before you even buy a warm "molson canadian like" beer for $11 a glass.

best spot
100s, 200s, and middle 300s. however, parts of the 200 and 300 sections are reserved for "premium seating" which aren't available to the general public. also, all of the band, record label, industry, and other comp-ed tickets are usually in these sections as well. the result is far fewer tickets available for the general public. the proletariat can just move back. that said, closer to the show, these seats can actually become available. but don't count on it.

i prefer the seats to the pit mainly because i had knee surgery a couple of years back and standing for that long can suck. but if you get caught up in the show and want to move around or dance, you will prefer the GA pit.

let's look at it this way. If you are a true foo fan, you will be at that show. Regardless if tickets are sold out for the presales, or in general, you will find a way.

I for example did not score Lee's tickets through the edge, but I tried and tried and finally found a kind soul who sold me (insert top dolla' here) a spot on the guest list.

I got 203 row H... I tried with the edge presale for about 5 minutes and thought, fuck section 405, that's pure crap! Then I decided to try with fan club with the same password. It worked and at first I was still getting pretty shitty tix (like 203 row ZZ) but I tried again for another 5 minutes and got H. I would have loved to get floor, but I'm only 5 feet tall and have a hard time seeing over other people. Last Foo concert at Arrow Hall I couldn't see a damn thing... so at least this is somewhat better. I'm still gonna try to see if I can get anything better on Thursday. I think my cousin wants to go and if I can get better seats then I'll just sell mine row H ones (don't worry, I always sell extra tickets at face value)

I don't know what to do. I already have three tickets for the 203 section, but I really wanted floor seats. Of course I chose "best available" and ended up getting worse seats. Anyways do you guys think I should try to get floor seats on Thursday, or stick with what I have? I've never been to the amphitheatre, so I have no idea what my seats in 203 row O will be like in comparison to floor. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

TM considers 'best available' as the best seats available...not everyone considers standing for 2 hours the best.

From experience, unless you are attending a non-rock show, you will remain seated. If you are attending a rock concert, get ready for people to be halfway seated during the opening act, then fully standing by the time the main act hits the stage. Moreover, they just might be standing on the seats (providing security doesn't intervene). In all, people with seats in the 100's and 200's will, in my opinion, be standing during the foo portion of the show.

p.s. The amp is confusing best available seats for Def leppard (where their fans are a little on the "old" side" and unable to stand during their set) with the more "energetic" foo fans. Also, the floors make you forget that you are in this poopy venue.

Sometimes though, for the opening band, they just put up like a little stage setup at the front of the stage to be struck down easily so that there aren't huge spaces of time between sets.

ticketmaster.ca has a floor chart for the Molson Center...you can see the whole layout there

I think they are doing that on the major tour with Weezer in the fall, but I could be mistaken.

WOW, I love Decadence! If you haven't seen them live then I really recommend it. It was $10 in this little club in Buffalo that fit like 200 people. I'm looking forward to the reforming of Glassjaw this summer/fall too. At least it's supposed to happen. Oh yeah, Head Automatica is playing at the Arrow Hall on September 13 up there in Toronto with The Used. It'll be worth it and I'll for sure be there again.

I didn't bother calling in because I already have 3 tickets for the 203 section. Anyways the callers had to identify four 3 secondclips from foo songs. So I sat there and listened to the people keep getting the songs wrong, so I'm like I should call in. So I called and I got in, and told them the songs were all my life, times like these, everlong and learn to fly. I was right. So now I ahve two more tickets, and I hope they are better seats than I had before. Does anyone know where radio station winners usually sit?

you will probably be in sec 303...just my guess. They are box seats and usually held for promotional stuff. I would think that thye will be better than 203...since they are centered and thats where the soundboard is!

you guys really should just take a look at the seating chart....the view being good/bad is really subjective, what is acceptable to some could be horrid to others.
Really, the amphitheatre isnt that bad of a venue, everything is sloped so that you can see, the seated area is nice, the lawns are huge, the sound is good...

303 is mostly for VIP's and promotional...the view is unobstructed and centered and it has wait staff at your disposal as well...

I remember a few months ago I wrote a long winded email to their program director bitching them out for the horrible play lists. I got a response with them asking what I'd like to hear more of. So I listed some bands I felt needed airplay and in return they reverted back to a "classic" set and brought back the likes of Iron Maiden and AC/DC...Neither of which I wanted to hear. Most of my friends and I boycot that channel and only listen if we absolutely have too. Although...I guess it IS better than your Edge...Kills me to say that...

see, I love that it plays classic and new rock...i LOVE AC/DC and Maiden! and they play a lot of metallica, and i even heard MEGADETH which is like unheard of! (maybe at 25 im just an old fart though, out of the demographic that the edge here is catering to...)

The edge here, plays 1 of 3 songs: Hand that Feeds - NIN, Beverly Hills - Weezer, and that new Coldplay song - whatever its called.

I agree that my edge's selection is more broad and that doesn't bother me...It's just what they put into that selection. I'm all for classic rock but they play the same four songs from these bands over and over and nothing more. The only times I EVER turn on the station these days is for Mandatory Metallica at 6pm and Necessary Nirvana at Midnight. Otherwise they just play mostly bullshit when I turn it on like Trapt, Shinedown and such and such...

I guess a lot of people here really hate the EDGE...I can't complain about them...they've been good to me (won tix to Lee's by answering "What band was Chris in before he joined the Foo's?") with winning contests and i've gotten tix to lots of concerts through their presales...too bad some of you guys don't have the same luck!

I was there and for Weezer i was on the lawns so it felt really like...distanced, I didn't really have as good as a time as I have for them in the past...but the Pixies..well..maybe its because I don't know any of their songs, but ...they didn't impress me either!

Weezer suck live? WHAT!!?!?!?! I've seen them everytime they've come to town since '94 and they always put on a kickass show IMO and last night was no exception... they sounded great. Pixies were pretty good, but honestly, I was underwhelmed (if that's a word...I know it's not cause I looked it up). When I get my Foo Lee's pix up I'll make sure to get my weezer/pixies ones up too and get you guys the link!

Rivers is one of the worse lead, live singers I've ever seen. The band as a whole is tight live, however they do sound EXACTLY like the recordings and that gets boring rather quickly. Bands that jam, improv, and seem to have fun are MUCH better live. And if you have never seen Rivers fuck up a chord or miss lyrics, you obviously aren't paying attention, its pretty well-known and download some live Weezer songs and about 1 out of 5 has some major goof ups. I've seen Weezer 5 times, too (yeah, I just bashed their live show, but its still entertainment) and about 3 times Brian had to handle most of the lead guitar riffs. Rivers just seems like a mess live and their shows are really hit or miss. When Matt Sharp left, it seems Weezer's creativity left with it.

yeah but every band fucks up a little bit, its expected. I have a Megadeth live cd and they fuck up a lot, heck even Dave forgets the words sometimes and makes them up...it happens to everyone. At least they tour and please the fans, even if Rivers doesn't really enjoy it. He seemed to, last night.
I think they are good live, but thats just my opinion. If I didn't think so, I wouldn't have paid to see them 5 times. (well one was free but still). The best thing about seeing them live, is that if you don't like a particular song they are doing, it will be over in like 2.5 mins lol...

I sure did! Great guy...he signed all my albums and my ipod mini (but the sig is now faded because I didn't shelack (sp) the thing in time...and I wasn't about to not listen to my iPod for the last month!) Definitely one of the highlights of my LIFE...no kidding.

Just went to the Sloan website and I see they're listed as doing the foo tour for every canadian date except for T.O.
