Yeah I highly doubt that The Foos would back Dylan. Bob has a new record out that I'm sure we'll hear a lot of. So he'd be working with a band on the new stuff. Bands backing bands doesn't happen often.....off the top of my head the only one I can think of is when the Flaming Lips backed Beck on a tour. Which by the way I would have killed to see.
that's all i could remember

According to the Bob Dylan website "His Band" is:
Jimmie Vaughan with Lou Ann Barton, Junior Brown, and Elana James & The Continental Two
It doesn't surprise me that the Edge could be wrong.

I think what they meant on 96 was that they were on the same bill. I don't think any one on 96 would be able to say anything like that on the air without some sort of source.

this is really sucking for me.
i dont have the cash, and i screwed my best friends over and i feel so bad.
they have to go with this guy who they hate, because i wasnt able to get them the password in time.
becasue his dads in the bob dylan fan club.
but on the plus side, my mom said she'd pay my half of a room at the hotel the foos stayed at last time.
so maybe we'll be able to see a little bit of foo!

I wish I could have been at V fest...damn work getting in the way of my concerts. As for Audioslave....I have a copy of the new record. It's very good...a real ass kicker. There's a lot of R&B influence which is pretty koool to say the least. Only bad thing....and its not bad at all is that it's such a rockin album when listening to the whole thing (I did that on a long drive) was that the songs kind of blend together. But over all a soild record and I can't wait to see them again.

Have you heard anything about tour dates yet? For some reason I thought I heard that they weren't going to tour for this album, but I highly doubt that is true since the album's doing really well.

They will tour...just not until the new year. Cornell has said that he wants fans to have the record in their hands for a bit before a tour. My guess is that he's working on his solo record and the other guys are working on other stuff. So they didn't want to stop and then come back to it after a tour. So we wait for a tour. But it will be worth the wait.....the last time it kicked ass.

Megadeth RULED!! 3 songs in, Dave yanks out his in-ear monitors and rips off his guitar and whips it across the stage, then walks off!! I thought there was going to be a riot, i really did. But it turns out that his in-ear monitors were blasting and thats why he got so upset, and 10 mins later the problem was fixed and they came out and played a WICKED show. I was lucky enough to meet them all afterwards and everyone was SO nice, even though I was too chicken-shit to say anything but my name to Dave and mumbled "amazing show"...LOL.

It's been a while since anyone has posted here....
But I got some news on the Live record....
Skin and Bones will be released on our area on Nov 7th. Now the DVD (what is on it exactly...good question....still working on that one) it's not going to hit shelves here until the 28th (Why the delay..also a good question). The single off the record will be "My Hero", but I don't think it will get much play. The is made up of all three preformances at the Pantages in LA. That's all the news I have for now....."My Hero" the single should be released on monday....

Another Killer show last night from the FOOs. The exact 7:30 start caught a lot of people off guard, so a lot of people were still trying to find their seats during the first two songs. They sounded great and Dave was...well Dave. Not a lot of talk because of the shortend set. It was amazing to hear Marigold. I love that song, but I don't think the crowd quite knew what they were experiencing. Kinda like in T.O when people used it as a bathroom/beer break. Petra sounds killer on the "Big Me" duet with Dave. No cowbell solo from Drew this time...but a very impressive Triangle solo. Taylor when he was intoduced (intros were done in the middle of "See You") had a pretty kick ass solo. Which is good..I think he's a little bored with the Acoustic shows. He wants to wail and got to for that brief moment. The crowd got going during "Best Of You" which was great to hear again. Over all a killer (but always too short) set from the guys. Wish I had the cash to see them in T.O. You guys are in for a good show....but you knew that already.
Set List:
Times like These
Marigold
My Hero
Big Me
Next Year
Another Round
See You
Cold Day In The Sun
Skin And Bones
Best Of You
Everlong
Now on to Dylan. As I have I'm sure you have been reading the reviews on the board. Yeah haven't been the best. But come on...what did they expect? I thought he was great. A lot of people did end up leaving after the Foo set. Which I don't get. I mean it's Bob Dylan. Sure I would have liked to hear more of his hits. But so be it. One thing that would have been nice if Dylan had played his Guitar (it sat in front of his keyboard). But the backing band was very good. Overall a great show and when will you get to see a Lengand play with a soon to be (if not already) legendary group.
Set List:
London, Ontario
John Labatt Centre
November 3, 2006

Cammy
November 5th 2006, 08:47 PM
Oh yeah I meant to talk about merch...thanx for reminding me. Not much Foo merch on this one. It's sort of the unwritten rule that the headliner gets more merch room. So some interesting Dylan shirts. I don't think there was anything different then was at the T.O. date. The Taylor Hawkins and his amazing Foo Orchestra shirts still proving to be very popular. One thing that you might want to invest in is the Tour poster. Much like the ones the Foo have (I love my One From T.O. by the way) It's Dylan and then the foos at the bottom. Not a bad price at $20 each. It's marked for each show just like the Foo ones were. I didn't pick one up because I bought the Foo One Before and I also didn't want to carry it around all night. I was headed out with friends and figured I would spill beer or something on it before the end of the night. But yeah basically same merch as before.
Also It was great to run into I Am Canadian. Sorry if I was a bit brief, I seemed to run into everyone I knew at once. But it was great to see you and I hope you enjoyed the show.
You guys at the T.O show let me know how it went as I sit in my apt crying that I missed them.

Sorry guys, I'm so late, but I've been really busy lately. Looks like Cammy pretty much covered the JLC show, but I've just got a few more things to add about it. Well I must say the Foo Fighters impressed me once again. I love Dave, he's so awesome, he just makes you laugh and I love it. They sounded amazing, Everlong like always had to be my highlight.....or maybe it was the triangle solo part. That was so funny. Cammy, do you remember what Dave said??? It was something like "Okay kids, it's triangle time." It was priceless. Personally I thought that the Foo Fighters as an opener made Bob Dylan like 10x more boring then he really was. I'm sorry Cammy, but unlike you, I really didn't enjoy Dylan. He didn't say a word until the end, and he was just plain boring. I mean, don't get me wrong, I respect the guy, I just don't think I'd ever want to hear him live again.
To all of you going to the Toronto show, have an awesome time!!!

Fantastic show!!! I'm glad I got tickets too! :)
The only thing ruining it for me were these two Dylan NERDS sitting beside me making 'hilarious' comments about Foo the entire time...I've never shot so many dirty looks in my LIFE...
"...God, is that Jack Black? Or Dave Grohl...why is he trying to be Jack Black?"
"...Man this is like a Broadway show...AN OFF-OFF BROADWAY SHOW HAHAHAHA"
"...Ugh I thought this song was called "Everlong" not "Predictable"" and with THAT comment, I turned and stared them right in the eye like this  (lol).
After they finished their set, one of them had the audacity to turn to me and go "So, you're a big Foo fan are ya?" (since I was clapping and screaming in their direction even louder out of spite) and I just looked at him and went "YEP." Then I said that we're going to be leaving for Dylan and the look on his face was PRICELESS....WHAT??? YOu're LEAVING? and I just turned away and didn't make eye contact at ALL. 5 Mins later he's like "I thought you guys were leaving" and im like "Yeah, we are" ..like whats it to you, fucking geek??! LOL anyway. I was mad at the time but we did stay for 3 Dylan songs and I tried to ruin those songs for the nerds just like they ATTEMPTED to ruin Foo for me. Fun times!

Ah, review time again. Good news or bad news first? Bad, let's end happy.
Dylan, geez, what can I say? I went for the Foos, but stayed to watch. Everybody calls this man a "living" legend, but that would be associated with the past. He is definitely a legend, no doubt, but he’s not a "performing" legend. He just stood there, no guitar, just his keyboard. No interaction with the crowd. Worst of all, I couldn't understand a fucking word the guy said, even when he spoke for all of 30 seconds. His back-up band wasn't bad. Overall, I give his half, 4.5/10, based on the band, not Bob.
The Foos. Oh, Dave was in fine form again with the support of Chris, Taylor, Nate, Rami, Prew, Pat, and beautiful Petra. The solos from the group were great, Petra’s violin solo, Chris’ riff, Nate’s bass line, Pat’s classically trained riff, Taylor’s drum solo (which featured cross-over-triplets), Rami’s piano solo, and Drew’s triangle solo (my first by the way). Dave was comical as usual, making jokes about Petra swallowing, I mean soloing, trying to find a triangle player who wasn’t in the third grade, among others I can’t remember right now. I did notice that Dave had a definite urge to stand up, jump around and just rock out. He mentioned he had to control himself from tomming too much during Times Like These. The show was good, I was totally glad, happy, thrilled to go, but the ACC doesn’t do justice to it like the night at The Hummingbird. My favourite song of the night was probably My Hero (I love the piano interlude), Next Year, or Everlong (with fuck thrown in for good measure). I would give the guys and girl 9/10, just because the show was great again and 10/10 went to the last complete Foo shows.
Sorry to hear about the pricks Jen. The people around me I don’t think were Foo fans, but I sung as loud as I could anyways.

No problem with the .torrent file for me for the Toronto show. At the time there was about 35 people seeding it so I was geeting at least 150 kB/sec right off the bat.

Cammy, I'm sorry I forgot to mention this a while back.......it was very nice to run into you at the London show. It's okay that you didn't have long to talk. I just wanted to say hi and see how things were going. I'm glad I ran into you, and I hope you had a great time. Btw, what seats did you have?
Cammy
November 15th 2006, 07:53 PM
I was on the Floor in section six. I jumped seats because I had a single ticket. So I made it up to the front row (just act like you belong and no one will question you) of the section. A great seat for the Foo, not as good as I had at the Hummingbird Centre. But it was still killer. I have to thank Wattershed again for the London & T.O bootlegs. They are killer!! Hopefully the Foo will play London again someday.

I like it, I absolutely love the intro to the dvd, my only complaint is that, that is the only backstage stuff on there....I just wish there was more as in maybe the concert could have been broken up by little backstage snippits or interviews...

December 5th 2006, 01:32 AM
I've watched most of the dvd and I like it. The crowd at this show wasn't the most exciting bunch though. A dvd with a more enthusiastic crowd would have been better....
Also, this is kinda off topic, but did anyone get tickets for the Incubus show at the Kool Haus? I had troubles getting tickets, and now it's sold out. Does anyone know where I could find tickets? I've checked ebay, but the prices on there are crazy....like 3-4x the original price.
Cammy
December 5th 2006, 07:44 PM
We'll start with the DVD of Skin & Bones....
Sat down and watched and thought it was great. Sorry but I prefer a full concert. I hate when its a few songs then they cut into interviews. That's just personal preference. Now if they could have the full concert and then extras with interviews and backstage stuff....that would be the perfect mix. As for no extras on the DVD..well so be it. It was what a 2 hour and fifteen minute rawk show from the boys. I'll take that for sure. I would have liked to seen Floaty....but guess thats a treat for us that went to the show. Over all though I think it captures the acoustic experience.

Incubus and Sony Bunged this one up very nicely. They offered the Cd online and when you bought it you got the pre-sale password (which I think is a great thing. Let the people that actually buy your music have first crack). So all the CDN fans that bought the Cd still couldn't get the pre-sale...why you ask??? Because the pre-sale was only open to the States. Thats right a pre-sale for a Toronto show that was not open to CDN residents. Quite possibly one of the stupidest things that I have ever heard. How a band and label could fuck that up is un heard of. But OK...so yo got over that and wanted to buy tickets online. Because everyone knows thats the best and fastest way to do it. Well Ticketmaster then fucks up and doesn't take down the pre-sale link till 25 minutes after the sale starts. So no one gets tickets on line because the few tickets (show is at the Kool Haus) that are avail. get sold to the people still in 1983 over the phones. Lets count again....not once do Incubus fans get screwed....but twice. Think of how mad you would have been if this had of happened for the Acoustic Foo show (roughly the same size of venue). Yeah not many happy Incubus fans out there. On the plus side the new Cd Light Grenades is pretty good. I'm not all the way thru it yet but i like it so far...as much as you can from a first listen. Although yes it was not Critically loved...but what do they know?
Also must mention....BRAND NEW Love these guys. Finally they bring out a new record. "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me" is wicked. the whole reason why I put down Incubus....to listen to this CD. Its a more grown up record (I know which is way over used, but very true for this record) and I love it. Put this one on your X-mas lists kiddies and Hopefully Satan Claus brings it to you even though you've been bad all year.

I like the new Incubus as well. A cd that I got a hold of today was Army Of Anyone. It's Richard Patrick (former lead sing of Filter) and the Deleo Bros (Former STP Members) new group. I really liked the first single "Goodbye", so I was interested to hear the record. I'm a big STP fan...never was huge on Filter. But wow....it's really good. Totally STP Meets Filter. If you can get your hands on it do it...or maybe on your X-mas list if you were good this year.
Oh as well The +44 disc. Very good...man just to many CD's coming out right now to keep up. It's more on the Blink side then Angels & Airwaves. But still very good.
No I don't love every Cd....I just pass on the good reviews. You couldn't pay me to listen to the Stone Sour CD again. As well as Hinder can go far far far away please.

Yeah have to say that I've never paid enough attention to them to know. Hey to each their own, if you dig Hinder...then enjoy. Now having said that, man once again last night...great Rawk show. Many are not Fans of The Dears....myself.....huge fan. I haven't seen them in a few years..so it was killer to catch them In Waterloo last night. Sure the drive was awful....nothing more fun then driving past an accident with a car wrapped around a tree. Anyway back to the show. Sure say what you will but the Dears were just great last night. More rawkin then I remember. Not thats a bad thing...actually it was a good thing. Barley a word spoken from the stage, until the last song of the Encore when it was a thank you to the crowd. But I think that's rather appropreate for the crowd that was at the show. If you've never seen or heard The Dears mix of Melon Collie meets art rock then give it a listen. I will admit that it is acquired taste. But worth a shot at least.
Now tonight...something totally different....Killswitch Engage. I know how do you go from The Dears to Killswitch...who knows. But it will be great to see the Massachusetts metal band again. I'm sure I'll have something to say about it so I'm sure you're just on the edge of your seat waiting for that...Hahaha

As for me...guess I should add a Billy Talent ticket to my list. BT , Alexisonfire and Moneen are all playing the Opera house boxing day. I have a line on a ticket so if I get it I'm jetting to T.O. To see that show for sure. My family may hate me but ahh well thats no change (2nd year in a row didn't get invited to one sides X-mas...my shrink someday will get paid fantastic money to hear all about that) Also working X-mas eve until 9 pm and boxing day....I don't even work retail!!! But meh....you can sleep when your dead right.
I'll have a wrap up (pun I know) if I go to the show and about a few more records.....really if you hate me posting about that stuff let me know. I like to share a bit too much sometimes. Oh I know that the above list I won't get because I've been bad......but it was worth it......

I don't really like it....not as much as i LOVED their last album. When I met them, they were opening up for Face to Face...I asked them where Scott Shiflett was or if they knew where he was before the show, and they were like "uh....who?" ...I was like...um..you know, the bassist that you're OPENING for?

Ahh yes its been too long since this thread has been alive.
I've met the Guys From MCR a few times and they have always been nice. You'd think they'd know who they were opening up for....but sometimes bands keep to themsleves and they never meet. But yeah is kinda weird. Have to say that the Black Parade was one of the best records of 06. I tried to sit down and make a list of my fav top ten..but just couldn't....so here we go a list of great records (in my opinion of course)
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
Brand new - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Of Me
Tool - 10,000 Days
Muse - Black Holes And Revelations
Eagles Of Death Metal - Death By Sexy
Wolf Mother - Wolf Mother
Priestess - Hello Master (they are liek the CDN Wolf Mother)
The Dears - Gang Of Losers
Billy Talent - Billy Talent 2
Moneen - The Red Tree
Ok thats the records off the top of my head....I'm sure I'll add to that list. One record I am excited about is the New Nine Inch Nails. Comin on April. Going to be called "Year Zero" more details here http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=65084
Excited for that as well as the new DVD

The Kool Haus is alright to see concerts...its not that rough if you don't mind being a bit towards the back, and I think Incubus should be cool. You can always find a little pocket to see from there, I've found.

Yeah shouldn't be too rough for Incubus. I would suggest standing right near the sound booth at the Kool Haus. Not exactly the best sounding venue, but the sightlines from everywhere are good.

I caught Muse when they toured here last for their last album Trust me ...SEE THIS BAND!!! They are krazy good. The fact that they are opening up for anyone still blows my mind. They sold out Wembley stadium....thats 150,000 tickets.....in 35 minutes!!!! thats unheard of. There is a reason why they always headline Reading and Leeds.....unreal good. Check out some of their stuff on youtube.

I have a feeling that Muse will Blow MCR ( Ihate to saythis...) off the stage. I'll quit my job in order to see them together...ok maybe not....but I'll threaten if I can't get it off.

Have any of you guys been to the Kool Haus? I was just wondering what shows are like there, and if they are kinda rough since it's pretty much GA. I was thinking about going to see Incubus, so any help you be great. Thanks in advance.
I love the Kool Haus! Everyone used to play there and thats where I've seen the majority of concerts!

Hey you guys...no one has seemed to be posting on here for a while. I just thought I'd try to get it going again.
What have you guys been up to? Any good concerts coming up or does anyone know of any good tours that will be happening in the near future?
It seems like there hasn't been much Foo news lately. Has anyone heard anything new about the album they are going to start recording? Or anything else?
Also....I've applied to university and already been accepted to Laurier. I've also applied to Western and Waterloo. Do you guys know anything interesting about these schools? or know anyone that's been to them?

Here's what i've "heard" about those schools (I've had friends go to all three)...
Laurier: nothing bad, nice school, right across from Waterloo
Waterloo: kinda nerdy but nice people, good school
Western: this is the school that all the rich kids and snobs went to, its like a party school but also a good one.
I haven't really heard anything going on with Foo either! I bought tickets to the Heaven and Hell tour, with Dio...Megadeth (!!) and Down. I'm pretty dang excited!

I'm going to Coachella as well, 300 bucks well worth it and got to shell out for a plane there - its going to be an experience of a lifetime. I also got tickets to see TV on the Radio and Bloc Party at the Kool Haus. Oh, don't go to Western.....one of my friends goes there and he's terrible.

As for schools, thanks for the advice guys. Hmmm I'm so confused. I've heard that Western is quite snobby too, which I don't want. I'm a bit of a nerd myself, so I'm sure I'd fit in at Waterloo. I really hate decisions.....Maybe I should just go back to high school for an extra year.

Western isn't that bad....this being said by someone that never went to a University. Yeah I know it shows....anyway. I've been to all three (by that I mean I've gotten loaded at all three) each one is alright. School is what you make of it to be honest. No matter where you go there will be bitchy and rude people. Pick the school that your most comfortable with and that works best for you.
As for rawk shows.....ok....Totally jealous of you guys heading to Coachella....what I'd give to see that show. This being said..I'm doing alright...next week is nuts...
Monday - Army Of Anyone @ The Horseshow in T.O.
Tuesday - Econoline Crush In A Small bar in Owen Sound (Yeah i know..why you ask..its free and I grew up there..so get to see old friends)
Wednesday - Still working On Slayer Tickets for London....not looking good.
Thursday - Back To London For Billy Talent, Rise Against, Anti Flag and Moneen (I'm stoaked about this one for sure. Although it will be wierd to see BT in an Arena)
Friday - London Once again for Hinder (hang on...I'm there to see the opening band Black Stone Cherry) I'm hoping to drink my face off during Hinder.
So yeah next week is nuts for me. Which is good...been to long since I've been to a rawk show..wait thats not true. Anyway It will be busy and I'm pumped.
Anyone here going to Canadain Music Week? I'm heading down this year and looking for tips on show cases...

Here is a cool article about Rage/Tom Morello if anyone wants to read it...http://zdlr.net/news/?q=node/15
Any predictions about the future of Audioslave? I'm thinking that if all goes well at Coachella we will see Audioslave go on an indefinite hiatus...and Rage get back together for another album/tour.
Any thoughts?
PS- I'd be sad to see Audioslave gone though.

AW NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
well at least we can both be sad!
I'd be sad if Audioslave broke up, but seeing as I haven't really gotten into their albums post-self titled, I'd rather see Rage back together and Chris do solo stuff. Audioslave concerts were fun and all, but they started basing them too much around the older bands hits rather than their own awesome music. Don't get me wrong, it was cool to see them do Rusty Cage and Killing in the Name of, but I'd rather see Last Remaining Light, Exploder, Gasoline, etc. etc.

Its really funny b/c i can listen to that album over and over and over ad infinitum (lol is that even how its spelled/used?) and the other two are just...meh. I like a couple songs off of Revelations and a couple from Out of Exile..but i can't listen to the whole album like i could with the first one. I was saddened by that fact.

Yeah I have to say I'm still a bit mad about missing The Army Of Anyone show. But I guess I didn't miss much. Richard Patrick the singer....yeah bad bad throat problems. left the stage twice, didn't come back the second time. They only played half a set. But this would have been kool...they grabbed people from the audience and had them sing. I could have sang with them....ok...I can't sing..and don't know the words so yeah might not have been the best choice.......looks over at Jennyroo......you should have been there....your used to fronting a band....
Also Jenny.....I agree with you on the other thread saying someone "looks gay" or "is gay" is a narrowmind way to put it. Yes I have said in passing that something is gay....but I catch myself now and think that there are more articulate ways to have said that its dumb. But yeah my thoughts on the whole Price super bowl half time thing...i just watched it on You Tube. Meh it was alright..Prince is good and all. Not exactly my cup of tea. But It kinda makes you notice how good Dave is when he's singing Best Of you....have to say I prefer Dave singing it...although Prince was good on the guitar part. I think he covered it just to have something rocking that everyone would know.
As For The Leafs.....I bleed Blue and White as well. Great to see the guys start playing well and winning!! There should be trade rumours all the time..get the boys to step up their game.
On To Rage...I think that Rage will do another record together. But that will be after another Audioslave tour (by the way go see Audioslave...unreal good!!). Chris Cornell has another solo record ready...so he'll go do the solo thing for a bit....Rage will do a record...tour...then we'll see Audioslave get back together and Do a massive record. Thats my prediction...am i right who knows.....oh also....is one Rage Against The Machine show going to topple Bush..lets hope so...
Countdown is on.....Billy Talent, Rise Against, Anti Flag and Moneen (love love love Moneen) on Thursday.....Anyone go to the T.O show?

I love the Deleo's for that...they did that at FooFest (remember that? at Arrow Hall) when they were with Talk Show, they had someone from the audience get up and sing Vasoline (i wanted it to be me SO BADLY) but fuck, what a trip that would be to get up and sing with a famous band! Ok this one is gonna be a long one....
Lets start back a week ago.....
I went to the Billy Talnet concert at the John Labbat Centre. I remember seeing those guys about three...maybe four years ago in a small venue in London that held 250 people. How times change. A sold out JLC (Just under 10,000) were on hand for the show. Anti Flag had to pull out of the show due to a death in the family. They posted on their Myspace that it was One of the guys sisters that was killed. So it was down to three bands....but that was OK with me. Because Wow!! Moneen opened up the show. I'ma huge Moneen fan (Can't tell you how many times I have seen them) Last time was in Guelph at a bar that held like 80 ppl. So seeing them rawk an arena was a big change. They were so good. If you haven't seen these guys or checked out their material..I would suggest you do so. On to Rise Aganst!!! I've waited Three Years to see these guys. Every time they come to Canada I always have something going on that means I have to miss them. But not this time. What a killer Punk band. They even did swing life away, which is weird for them.... here's the video that a Friend of mine shot from the side of the stage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a523edP6Rdg
It was worth the three year wait.....now hopefully don't have to wait that long again...
On To Billy Talent.....Man the road has been good to those boys. They are just unreal. From the start to finish they rawked the place. It shows that if they are playing a small club or arena they can totally rawk the place. I wish I could give a highlight...but the whole thing was amazing....Good news if you missed this Tour they will be back in November....I'll be there for sure.....

Ok decided to make it two posts......
Anyone watch the Grammys on sunday?? I made sure to tune in to the Biggest night in music. Usually I'm very dissappointed in the Grammys. Not this year though. I never was a Police fan...so them reuniting didn't get me too excited. But yeah the preformance was good.....not great. Pretty much same old same old. Hey did anyone else notice that Chad from RHCP was drumming with the Dixie Chicks? They were alright...I'm not a fan..but I guess the album must have been pretty damn good to win so many awards. Mary J Blige put on a hell of a preformance as well. Ok..I'm a huge James Brown fan..so losing him was a huge loss to music (in my opinion) So I was hoping that they would pay tribute to him. Man...Christina singing "This Is A Mans World'...wow.....ok some have said said she over sung it..me....meh..I don't know. I just thought it was damn good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlpbKkMhrAA
Then With the Dance Tribute to James Brown as well. Ok..I thought it was Chris Brown that was the dancer...am I on drugs?? Either way whom ever it was can move. Then have to admit when the Cape Man came out and put the Cape over the mic stand....got a bit misty eyed.
Ok...I will admit it....I'm a Justin Timberlake Fan. He was pretty damn good at the Grammys. As well any guy that gets to make out with Scarlett johansson in his videos has to have something going for him. I'm not sure about giving him Two preformances...but what do I know. Sure the 2nd with the Contest winner (turns out she was cut from American Idol this week as well) was kinda cheesy..but still a good preformance.
Now I'm not sure why they Billed the Chilli's prefromance as something you'll be talking about tomorrow. I mean yeah ok...they can't be hey these guys are just going to be just alright. Even though thats what they were....Just alright.
So there you go.....Oh Ludacris was good as well....i enjoyed how he Thanked Oprah and Bill O'Reilly when he won for best rap album.
Any one else see the Grammys???

Ok..last one I promise....
Remember how I said that Audiosalve woudln't break up.....yup Wrong!!!
Chris Cornell left the band today. So the Rage getting back together rumours will only get stronger. Hopefully they do..I'd love to see them live. I've never had the chance before. Also the rumour of Soundgarden playing together surfaced. Which is pretty soon to put that outthere...but if Van Halen can get back together....
Guess Cornell is focusing on his solo record thats coming out soon. Also mean s no Audioslave tour for Revelations....which is too bad. I had the chance to see them on the last tour...wow....is all I can say

Since the Incubus show has been rescheduled, do you guys know of any tickets that are available for a somewhat reasonable price? There has got to be people out there that cannot go now. I checked eBay and there was one ticket for $120, that was all I could find though. Any other suggestions?

Man, I dont find them pretentious at all...I don't personally know em but they seem fucking laid back. They are making it real hard for scalpers to get tickets for their shows. They played a High School Cafeteria in Ottawa a couple weeks ago and you should really check out the impromptu video of "Wake Up". After the band's concert in London (I think) they just set up and started plaing in the venue's lobby.
Wish I would have gotten tickets to the TO show, but I dont know if I will be in the country. I will be seeing them at Coachella though.

Yup...CD changes colours after you listen to it. It's heat sensitive...so it warms up while it plays then goes back to Black when it cools down. Trent is a fuckin genius for going all out with the concept of this record......
Everything from stealing fans for secret shows to the number on the back of the Cd to leaving MP3's on Flash drives with new songs in the washroom at shows to the massive amount of Websites that lead to clues....

Notes from a Hip Hop Head
An Open Letter to Oprah Winfrey
By SAUL WILLIAMS
Dear Ms. Winfrey,
It is with the greatest respect and adoration of your loving spirit that I write you. As a young child, I would sit beside my mother everyday and watch your program. As a young adult, with children of my own, I spend much less time in front of the television, but I am ever thankful for the positive effect that you continue to have on our nation, history and culture. The example that you have set as someone unafraid to answer their calling, even when the reality of that calling insists that one self-actualize beyond the point of any given example, is humbling, and serves as the cornerstone of the greatest faith. You, love, are a pioneer.
I am a poet.
Growing up in Newburgh, NY, with a father as a minister and a mother as a school teacher, at a time when we fought for our heroes to be nationally recognized, I certainly was exposed to the great names and voices of our past. I took great pride in competing in my churches Black History Quiz Bowl and the countless events my mother organized in hopes of fostering a generation of youth well versed in the greatness as well as the horrors of our history. Yet, even in a household where I had the privilege of personally interacting with some of the most outspoken and courageous luminaries of our times, I must admit that the voices that resonated the most within me and made me want to speak up were those of my peers, and these peers were emcees. Rappers. Yes, Ms. Winfrey, I am what my generation would call "a Hip Hop head." Hip Hop has served as one of the greatest aspects of my self-definition. Lucky for me, I grew up in the 80's when groups like Public Enemy, Rakim, The jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, and many more realized the power of their voices within the artform and chose to create music aimed at the upliftment of our generation.
As a student at Morehouse College where I studied Philosophy and Drama I was forced to venture across the street to Spelman College for all of my Drama classes, since Morehouse had no theater department of its own. I had few complaints. The performing arts scholarship awarded me by Michael Jackson had promised me a practically free ride to my dream school, which now had opened the doors to another campus that could make even the most focused of young boys dreamy, Spelman. One of my first theater professors, Pearle Cleage, shook me from my adolescent dream state. It was the year that Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" was released and our introduction to Snoop Dogg as he sang catchy hooks like "Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks ... " Although, it was a playwriting class, what seemed to take precedence was Ms. Cleage's political ideology, which had recently been pressed and bound in her 1st book, Mad at Miles. As, you know, in this book she spoke of how she could not listen to the music of Miles Davis and his muted trumpet without hearing the muted screams of the women that he was outspoken about "man-handling". It was my first exposure to the idea of an artist being held accountable for their actions outside of their art. It was the first time I had ever heard the word, "misogyny". And as Ms. Cleage would walk into the classroom fuming over the women she would pass on campus, blasting those Snoop lyrics from their cars and jeeps, we, her students, would be privy to many freestyle rants and raves on the dangers of nodding our heads to a music that could serve as our own demise.
Her words, coupled with the words of the young women I found myself interacting with forever changed how I listened to Hip Hop and quite frankly ruined what would have been a number of good songs for me. I had now been burdened with a level of awareness that made it impossible for me to enjoy what the growing masses were ushering into the mainstream. I was now becoming what many Hip Hop heads would call "a Backpacker", a person who chooses to associate themselves with the more "conscious" or politically astute artists of the Hip Hop community. What we termed as "conscious" Hip Hop became our preference for dance and booming systems. Groups like X-Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Brand Nubian, Arrested Development, Gangstarr and others became the prevailing music of our circle. We also enjoyed the more playful Hip Hop of De La Soul, Heiroglyphics, Das FX, Organized Konfusion. Digable Planets, The Fugees, and more. We had more than enough positivity to fixate on. Hip Hop was diverse.
I had not yet begun writing poetry. Most of my friends hardly knew that I had been an emcee in high school. I no longer cared to identify myself as an emcee and my love of oratory seemed misplaced at Morehouse where most orators were actually preachers in training, speaking with the Southern drawl of Dr. King although they were 19 and from the North. I spent my time doing countless plays and school performances. I was in line to become what I thought would be the next Robeson, Sidney, Ossie, Denzel, Snipes ... It wasn't until I was in graduate school for acting at NYU that I was invited to a poetry reading in Manhattan where I heard Asha Bandele, Sapphire, Carl Hancock Rux, Reggie Gaines, Jessica Care Moore, and many others read poems that sometimes felt like monologues that my newly acquired journal started taking the form of a young poets'. Yet, I still noticed that I was a bit different from these poets who listed names like: Audrey Lourde, June Jordan, Sekou Sundiata etc, when asked why they began to write poetry. I knew that I had been inspired to write because of emcees like Rakim, Chuck D, LL, Run DMC ... Hip Hop had informed my love of poetry as much or even more than my theater background which had exposed me to Shakespeare, Baraka, Fugard, Genet, Hansberry and countless others. In those days, just a mere decade ago, I started writing to fill the void between what I was hearing and what I wished I was hearing. It was not enough for me to critique the voices I heard blasting through the walls of my Brooklyn brownstone. I needed to create examples of where Hip Hop, particularly its lyricism, could go. I ventured to poetry readings with my friends and neighbors, Dante Smith (now Mos Def), Talib Kwele, Erycka Badu, Jessica Care Moore, Mums the Schemer, Beau Sia, Suheir Hammad ... all poets that frequented the open mics and poetry slams that we commonly saw as "the other direction" when Hip hop reached that fork in the road as you discussed on your show this past week. On your show you asked the question, "Are all rappers poets?" Nice. I wanted to take the opportunity to answer this question for you.
The genius, as far as the marketability, of Hip Hop is in its competitiveness. Its roots are as much in the dignified aspects of our oral tradition as it is in the tradition of "the dozens" or "signifying". In Hip Hop, every emcee is automatically pitted against every other emcee, sort of like characters with super powers in comic books. No one wants to listen to a rapper unless they claim to be the best or the greatest. This sort of braggadocio leads to all sorts of tirades, showdowns, battles, and sometimes even deaths. In all cases, confidence is the ruling card. Because of the competitive stance that all emcees are prone to take, they, like soldiers begin to believe that they can show no sign of vulnerability. Thus, the most popular emcees of our age are often those that claim to be heartless or show no feelings or signs of emotion. The poet, on the other hand, is the one who realizes that their vulnerability is their power. Like you, unafraid to shed tears on countless shows, the poet finds strength in exposing their humanity, their vulnerability, thus making it possible for us to find connection and strength through their work. Many emcees have been poets. But, no, Ms. Winfrey, not all emcees are poets. Many choose gangsterism and business over the emotional terrain through which true artistry will lead. But they are not to blame. I would now like to address your question of leadership.
You may recall that in immediate response to the attacks of September 11th, our president took the national stage to say to the American public and the world that we would " ... show no sign of vulnerability". Here is the same word that distinguishes poets from rappers, but in its history, more accurately, women from men. To make such a statement is to align oneself with the ideology that instills in us a sense of vulnerability meaning "weakness". And these meanings all take their place under the heading of what we consciously or subconsciously characterize as traits of the feminine. The weapon of mass destruction is the one that asserts that a holy trinity would be a father, a male child, and a ghost when common sense tells us that the holiest of trinities would be a mother, a father, and a child: Family. The vulnerability that we see as weakness is the saving grace of the drunken driver who because of their drunken/vulnerable state survives the fatal accident that kills the passengers in the approaching vehicle who tighten their grip and show no physical vulnerability in the face of their fear. Vulnerability is also the saving grace of the skate boarder who attempts a trick and remembers to stay loose and not tense during their fall. Likewise, vulnerability has been the saving grace of the African American struggle as we have been whipped, jailed, spat upon, called names, and killed, yet continue to strive forward mostly non-violently towards our highest goals. But today we are at a crossroads, because the institutions that have sold us the crosses we wear around our necks are the most overt in the denigration of women and thus humanity. That is why I write you today, Ms. Winfrey. We cannot address the root of what plagues Hip Hop without addressing the root of what plagues today's society and the world.
Cammy
April 20th 2007, 09:19 PM
You see, Ms. Winfrey, at it's worse; Hip Hop is simply a reflection of the society that birthed it. Our love affair with gangsterism and the denigration of women is not rooted in Hip Hop; rather it is rooted in the very core of our personal faith and religions. The gangsters that rule Hip Hop are the same gangsters that rule our nation. 50 Cent and George Bush have the same birthday (July 6th). For a Hip Hop artist to say "I do what I wanna do/Don't care if I get caught/The DA could play this mothafukin tape in court/I'll kill you/ I ain't playin'" epitomizes the confidence and braggadocio we expect an admire from a rapper who claims to represent the lowest denominator. When a world leader with the spirit of a cowboy (the true original gangster of the West: raping, stealing land, and pillaging, as we clapped and cheered.) takes the position of doing what he wants to do, regardless of whether the UN or American public would take him to court, then we have witnessed true gangsterism and violent negligence. Yet, there is nothing more negligent than attempting to address a problem one finds on a branch by censoring the leaves.
Name calling, racist generalizations, sexist perceptions, are all rooted in something much deeper than an uncensored music. Like the rest of the world, I watched footage on AOL of you dancing mindlessly to 50 Cent on your fiftieth birthday as he proclaimed, "I got the ex/if you're into taking drugs/ I'm into having sex/ I ain't into making love" and you looked like you were having a great time. No judgment. I like that song too. Just as I do, James Brown's Sex Machine or Grand Master Flashes "White Lines". Sex, drugs, and rock and roll is how the story goes. Censorship will never solve our problems. It will only foster the sub-cultures of the underground, which inevitably inhabit the mainstream. There is nothing more mainstream than the denigration of women as projected through religious doctrine. Please understand, I am by no means opposing the teachings of Jesus, by example (he wasn't Christian), but rather the men that have used his teachings to control and manipulate the masses. Hip Hop, like Rock and Roll, like the media, and the government, all reflect an idea of power that labels vulnerability as weakness. I can only imagine the non-emotive hardness that you have had to show in order to secure your empire from the grips of those that once stood in your way: the old guard. You reflect our changing times. As time progresses we sometimes outgrow what may have served us along the way. This time, what we have outgrown, is not hip hop, rather it is the festering remnants of a God depicted as an angry and jealous male, by men who were angry and jealous over the minute role that they played in the everyday story of creation. I am sure that you have covered ideas such as these on your show, but we must make a connection before our disconnect proves fatal.
We are a nation at war. What we fail to see is that we are fighting ourselves. There is no true hatred of women in Hip Hop. At the root of our nature we inherently worship the feminine. Our overall attention to the nurturing guidance of our mothers and grandmothers as well as our ideas of what is sexy and beautiful all support this. But when the idea of the feminine is taken out of the idea of what is divine or sacred then that worship becomes objectification. When our governed morality asserts that a woman is either a virgin or a whore, then our understanding of sexuality becomes warped. Note the dangling platinum crosses over the bare asses being smacked in the videos. The emcees of my generation are the ministers of my father's generation. They too had a warped perspective of the feminine. Censoring songs, sermons, or the tirades of radio personalities will change nothing except the format of our discussion. If we are to sincerely address the change we are praying for then we must first address to whom we are praying.
Thank you, Ms. Winfrey, for your forum, your heart, and your vision. May you find the strength and support to bring about the changes you wish to see in ways that do more than perpetuate the myth of enmity.
In loving kindness,
Saul Williams

Wattershed...Congrats!!!
As for your question Jenny. They didn't play "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" front to back. Played a lot of songs from it....but also included ones from their First record as well. This Tour they come out and do "The Black Parade" front to back. Then do a few from the first two records. I'm kinda surprized that you didn't really get into "The Black Parade". Personally I think its a great record.....but I must say I'm a bit concerned about the up coming shows. The whole revoling door of opening bands sucks for everyone. I was super pumped when I heard Muse was going to be opneing!!! But then due to scheduling conflicts they dropped off the tour. I was a bit bummed (on a side note Muse is Playing Lolla which I am going to...I hope at least. anyone from here heading to Lolla?) Then Thursday was added to the bill....(which was great. I was supposed to see Thursday with Taste Of Chaos 06....but Geoff got really sick..so they dropped off that bill) But....then they left their record company and decided not to do the MCR shows. So now The opener is The Bled. I've got their last record (at least i think it is) It's good....but when I think Damn...it could have been Muse up there I just kinda go..well ok then. Also MCR has two guys outta the line up (Mikey Way to be with his new bride, and I think that someone else is missing). Just to add on to all of this. The guys are sick...they just cancelled shows in the US. So yeah I'm kinda worried about how godo they will be. I've seen them a few times and have left the show impressed. But I don't know. Hopefully I'm wrong. You guys will have to let me know your thoughts on the show.

The Balcony seats aren't bad at all. It's also super easy to sneek by the 84 year old security guard and get on the floor. I'll look around though and see if anyone I know has an extra floor ticket.

UGH. I almost wish I hadn't read that. I'm with Wattershed Freak....it was WAY TOO STRESSFUL!! I'm already stressed!!! I hope its not another "win to get in"....it enraged me how many dumbasses won tickets and how much time i wasted trying to call in.
Now I'm going to be on edge until I hear word of them coming....I guess i should start listening to the Edge again (barf) so I'll be in the know.
FUCK!

Thats sweet if they do come and do a small show again. If It does happen it most likely will be win to get in which I know is hard for everyone. I'll already wish everyone the best of luck. Man I can't wait to see them live again!!

TedEdFred, I call assistant-captain!:D :D
I hope it isn't far away, especially on Sept. 13 or 19! I'm seeing City & Colour and Rush, respectively, on those days.
